Janet Stellenwerf

She was born in Princeton, NJ to John B. and Mary T. Bergen. She graduated in 1949 from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL with a degree in Literature and Education. She taught English in the Princeton, New Jersey public schools until her retirement in 1990 when she and her husband retired and moved to Cape Cod.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William G. Stellenwerf, of 57 years, and her cousin Ina Wallace (and her husband, Charles) of Delaware.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jewell, and her husband, Claude, of Orleans, MA; her son, John W. Stellenwerf, and his wife, Jane, of St. George, Utah and his three children, Jeremy Stellenwerf, Chad Stellenwerf, (and wife, Abby), and Chloe Stellenwerf; her daughter, Martha Morse, and her husband, Michael, of Amesbury, MA, and their five children, Sarah Van Duyne (and husband, Ben), Emily De La Cruz (husband Mel), Peter Morse (wife Mary), Elizabeth Morse, and Rebecca Canizares (husband, Alejandro). She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren. Other beloved surviving family members include Abnet and Walter Ellis of Columbia, MD, and their children Danielle and Andrew.

Janet was a life long devoted Christian who served faithfully and was a member in multiple churches throughout her life.

A graveside service will be at 10:00 on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Orleans Cemetery, Main Street, Orleans, MA. It will be followed by a Celebration of Life at Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main Street, Brewster, MA, at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Brewster Baptist Church.
