Bryant, Jean L. (Walsh) 91, of Orleans, formerly of Brewster, Wellesley Hills and Naples, FL died on Monday, January 29th. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward C. Bryant. She is survived by her children: Ellen (and David) Gormley of Foxborough; Edward Jr. (and Li Ying) Bryant of W. Springfield; William Bryant of Cambridge; Paul (and Laurel) Bryant of Orleans; Margaret (and Thomas) Dillon of Naples, FL and Elizabeth (and Gerard) Fogarty of Norwood. She was the sister of Mary-Eleanor (and Tom) Hanley of Naples, FL; Anne Walsh (and Bob Cunnane) of Brewster and sister-in-law to Rita Walsh of E. Walpole, Rose Walsh of Naples, FL and Marie Bryant of Wolfeborough, NH. Her late brothers were James Jr., Alan and Lawrence Walsh. Proud grandmother of: Matthew (and Aleta) Gormley; Andrew Gormley; Carolyn (and Jeffrey) Krueger; Alexandra Dunne-Bryant; Casey (and Brandon) Dillon-Jones; James Dillon; Suzanne, Liam and Patrick Fogarty; Olivia Bryant; Phil (and SImone) Drapeau and Gwenn (and Polly) Drapeau. Also great-grandmother to: Gabrielle, Jacob, Daniel, Riley, Kaia and Eleanor.
Born in Boston, Jean was a member of the class of 1954 at Boston College, and received her degree in Education from Framingham State. In Wellesley Jean was an active member of St. Paul’s Parish, CCD teacher, choir member and was president of the Book Club. In Naples’ St. Peter’s Parish she volunteered and taught as a substitute at St. Ann’s School. She ran the nursery program at Trinity-by-the-Cove Church for ten years. At St. Joan of Arc Parish in Orleans she served as a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir, was past president of the Women’s Guild and volunteered for many years at the Thrift Shop. Her vast network of cousins and friends will remember Jean always for her faith, animated story telling, generosity, stamina and of course, her zest for parties.
Visiting hours will be held at The Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, ORLEANS on Thursday, February 7th from 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be at St. Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, ORLEANS on Friday, February 8th at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
