Jean was a graduate of Bulkeley High School and was employed at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance for many years. She was married for 60 years to her husband, John A. Zazzaro. John and Jean lived in Newington and Wethersfield, Connecticut before retiring to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where they spent more than 20 years enjoying the sun, the beach, boating, and a relaxed Cape lifestyle.
Jean enjoyed cooking, baking, bowling, and family gatherings. She especially enjoyed going out and laying in her sand chair and taking walks on the Outer Beach at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham and Nauset Beach in Orleans, as well as boating with her husband and sons in Long Island Sound.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, John A. Zazzaro, in 2023, and by her son, Paul A. Zazzaro, in 2024.
She is survived by her son Michael, his wife Luanne, who cared for Jean during the final months of her life, her grandchildren Bruce and Jennifer, and her great-grandson Cooper, as well as her pet Noel.
She is also survived by her brothers and their spouses: Edward and Kathy Majewski of Hobe Sound, Florida; John and Sharon Majewski of Waleska, Georgia; and Patrick and Pamela Majewski of Barrington, Rhode Island. Jean shared a close bond with her brothers throughout her life, marked by frequent phone calls, visits, and memories such as the homemade Friday night pizzas. From growing up together as children to remaining closely connected as adults, they greatly enjoyed her company and valued the time they spent with her.
Jean is also survived by her sister-in-law, Arcangela Claffey of Newington, Connecticut, with whom she shared a warm and caring relationship over many years.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, with whom she maintained close and thoughtful connections. Jean took special care to stay in touch, always sending birthday cards and acknowledging important milestones. Each year, she looked forward to receiving family Christmas cards and portraits, which she cherished and kept as reminders of the families she loved.
Funeral services will be private, in accordance with Jean’s wishes.
