Margie Fulcher

Margie E. Fulcher passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on May 11, 2019 after a brief illness. A true and beloved Cape Codder, Margie was born on January 9, 1951 at Cape Cod Hospital to Roscoe Nickerson and Elizabeth (Brown) Nickerson. She grew up on Rte. 6A in Orleans where the Christmas Tree Shop now stands.

Margie was a devoted and loving mother, wife, sister, aunt and Nana who never missed a single game or school activity that her daughters Vicki and Tina were involved in. She was their Brownie leader and served on the Eldredge Park Playground and OES Playground fundraising committees to ensure the best for her daughters and all the children in the community. She was so proud of her daughters and her grandchildren, always encouraging them to be the best they could be. Margie was also a loyal friend, advocate and a true leader who persevered through every aspect of her life. She was both well-known and respected for speaking her mind, as well as for her fun-loving and mischievous ways. She will always be remembered for her wit, sarcasm and wonderful sense of humor.

Margie had a work ethic like no other and was larger than life in so many ways. She was a member and Chairperson of the Orleans Board of Selectman from 2003-2012 as well as a member and Chairperson of the Nauset Regional School Committee from 1981-2003. In 2003 she was awarded the MASC Lifetime Achievement Award for her service to her community. In addition, she, along with her late husband Paul, were honored as Orleans Citizens of the Year in 2014. Margie truly loved the Town of Orleans, and selflessly devoted many years of public service to help her community thrive.

Margie was pre-deceased by her loving, devoted husband and true soulmate of 41 years, Paul O. Fulcher; her parents Roscoe and Elizabeth Nickerson; brothers Jim, Robert and Richard; sisters Evelyn, June and Margie’s twin sister Elizabeth, and her great-niece Ashley Davenport. Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her daughter Vicki Fulcher-LeBlanc and husband Craig of South Yarmouth; daughter Tina Fulcher-Somerville of Dennisport; her precious grandchildren Cedella Somerville, Bryson LeBlanc and Rylan LeBlanc; sister Hilda Davenport of W. Yarmouth; sisters-in-law Patricia Brown of Lake Charles, LA and Barbara Fulcher of Eastham; brothers-in-law Byron Fulcher and wife Linda of Harwich and Barry Fulcher of Cambridge, ME; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces that she loved dearly and was so proud of.

There will be a celebration of life luncheon on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Allen Harbor Yacht Club in Harwich Port from 1:00 to 4:00. Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society. For online condolences, please visit www.nickersonfunerals.com.
