Norma Emond, 91, died October 6, 2022 at Royal Falmouth, MA of Alzheimer’s disease. Born in New Bedford, MA in 1930 to Charles Acorn and Edith May (Tripp) Acorn, she graduated from Orleans High School after skipping 2 grades in grammar school.
In 1948 she married Charles Chase of Eastham, MA and shared responsibilities with her husband at the family business, the Hillside Restaurant in Eastham. Later, she held a variety of jobs for employers including First National Stores , Timbuktu Travel Agency in Orleans, MA and Eldredge and Lumpkin Insurance Agency in Chatham, MA.
She loved reading and history, especially the Civil War Period. She volunteered at People for Cats and also at Around the Table in Falmouth MA.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Rutledge of Gulfport, FL, Susan Chase of Worcester, MA, grandchildren Matthew Adams (Diana Lawrence) of Brooklyn, NY, Jessica Adams, Andrew Hoagland of Eastham, MA and Julianna Chase-Kew of San Francisco, CA as well as five great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her daughter Wendy, grandson Eric Hoagland, brother, Charles Acorn and her first husband, Charles Chase.
A private graveside service will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Eastham, MA.
