Patricia was born on April 22, 1934 in Galt, Ontario, Canada to William “Bill” Foot and Marion (Frew) Foot. Pat was the first born and ultimately longest survivor of the three-Foot children, which included her two brothers, Jack and Terry. Raised in the small town of Paris, Ontario, after her education Pat hired on with the local telephone company as an operator. Pat always laughed when people jokingly asked, “Did you really wear roller skates when working multiple switchboards. She would respond, I sure did and was darn good at running that switchboard room crew of girls. Pat married a local fellow, Ken Wilson, in 1954 and by 1957 they had two sons, John and Rob, and the family moved across the border for Ken to work in the construction industry in western New York. Patricia provided the primary parenting responsibilities as the two boys completed their K-12 schooling. Shortly thereafter Pat and Ken separated and years later she found a kindred spirit in Ray Charest. In 1979 Patricia became a U.S. Naturalized Citizen while also maintaining her Canadian citizenship. In December 1984, Ray and Pat were married and stayed that way for 36 years, ending with Ray’s passing March 9, 2021.
A highlight of Pat’s life was vacationing annually on Cape Cod. Gramma Foot/Nana would make a point of inviting her various kids and grandkids to join her and Papa Ray down the Cape. Eventually Ray and Pat bought a house on the Cape in Eastham and there was a non-stop flow of family members and close friends enjoying the new house and all the outdoor activities offered by the Cape, especially the drive-out (“Don’t get stuck in the sand Ray”) beaches. Family memories of time spent at the Cape are forever cherished and truly priceless. From all of us, thank you, Gramma Foot/Nana and Papa Ray.
Gramma Foot/Nana will be missed by her two sons John (Mary) Wilson and Robert “Rob” (Veronique) Wilson, her grandchildren children Kelly, Sarah (Keenan), Rob (Crystal), Casey (Kirstin), and great grandchildren Lydia, Willie, Esme, Eleanor, Liam, and Killian. She also leaves behind her stepsons, Ray Jr. (fiancée Dessy) Charest, Jason (Jodie) Charest, stepdaughter Melanie (fiancée Mesha) Charest, grandchildren Alexis (Caleb), Gabriel, Christian, Mollie, and great grandchildren Addisyn, and Haidyn. Patricia is predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Raymond “Ray” F. Charest, Sr., step-daughter-in-law Regina “Gina” Charest, and step-grandson Raymond F. Charest III.
