Robert P. Plitt

Robert Phillips Plitt, 88, died at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Massachusetts on March 31, 2023. He was born in New Britain, Connecticut on April 18, 1934, the son of the late Emil and Ida Plitt. He was married to Jane Story Plitt, who died in 2019, for 61 years. They resided in Cromwell and Canton, Connecticut before building a home in Eastham where he has lived since 1995. He served in the US Navy from 1953 through 1957. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 40 through his working years and beyond.

Bob is survived by his children, Jeffrey O. Plitt and his wife Linda of San Tan Valley, AZ; Andrew R. Plitt and his wife Annette of Riverton, UT; Rebecca Bridges and her husband William of Torrington, CT; and Tyson J. Plitt and his wife, Jean, of Barkhamsted, CT as well as twelve grand-children and a growing number of great grand-children.

Bob was a loving father and grandfather with family always a priority along with humanitarian concerns through his churches and community organizations. He was an avid fisherman sharing this joy with many friends over the years. Bob loved sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the UConn basketball teams. He enjoyed sharing conversation about sports and current events with those near to him.

A memorial service is being arranged by family members and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local food bank such as the Eastham United Methodist Church’s Food Pantry or Wellfleet Food Pantry.
