Ronald "Ron" E. Reed

Ronald E. Reed passed away October 4, 2019 at his Orleans home surrounded by his family. Born March 3, 1939 in Waterbury, CT he was the middle son of Edgar A. Reed and Lillian S. Reed. He was a graduate of Terryville High School, class of '57 and the school of hard knocks.

Ron worked at Stephen Pontiac Cadillac in Bristol, CT for 40 years, starting as a line mechanic and retiring as Service Manager in 1997. During his career as service manager, Ron was the recipient of many accomplishment awards, including a national service manager award for a perfect score for Cadillac Standards of Excellence. Also, Ron and his team consistently earned a customer satisfaction index of 100%. After "retirement" to the Cape, he enjoyed working for Crowell Construction in South Dennis for over 10 years. He was a member of the Cadillac Craftsman's League and the Orleans-Eastham Elks.

Boating was a lifelong enjoyment especially aboard the "Lyncris". Spending a week or two captaining pleasure boats with his friends in the BVI was a vacation highlight for years. He loved to travel, party with his family and friends and spend time at the beach, cooking a pot while enjoying a game of horse shoes as the tide came in.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda (Rode) Reed, his beloved son Christopher, his brother Gary and Joyce Ashley, sister-in-law Alison Reed of Terryville, CT., as well as his nephews and nieces, Scott (Michelle), Jay, Gary, Robert, Julie and Lisa. He was predeceased by his older brother Jack.

Visitation will be from 10:30 am - 12:00 Noon and will be followed by a 12: Noon Service on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA 02633.
