Born on April 6, 1928 she was raised in Quincey. After marrying, Ursula
and her family followed husband, Myles', career traveling the East. They
settled on the Cape in 1970.
Owner operator of The Country Inn in Harwich Port and the Dennis House, she
was an innkeeper with a passion for hospitality. A hostess with class.
She later became concierge at Chatham Bars Inn and Oceans Edge.
Ursula founded and was president of Cape and Islands Concierge Association,
still going strong today. She volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters and
the first night Chatham committee, with much enthusiasm.
She encouraged and taught everyone around her with kindness, strength, love
for life and never ending dreams. Her happiest times were spent gathering
family and friends, sharing life stories, cooking, traveling and
gardening. She cherished her family and brought all close to her together.
Ursula is survived by son, Douglas McTernan and wife, Mary McGuire, of
Newburyport, MA, daughter Amy Costa and husband, Jim, of Orleans,
granddaughter Kirsten Deschamps and great grandson, Tyler, of Harwich
grandson Dillon McTernan and wife Mandy and great grandson, Dillon Gavri,
of Hammond, LA, as well as loved friends, close extended family and many Danish relatives.
She will be missed and always loved, she was truly a lady.
A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2011 at 1:00pm at the Chapel in the Pines, 220 Samoset Rd, Eastham, MA. Donations in Ursula's memory can be sent to VNA Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 434 Rt. 134, suite D3, S. Dennis, MA 02660.
