

E. Marie Harper, 74, of Ormond Beach, passed away on November 11, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born in Clayville, New York, on April 13, 1937, the daughter of Lynn E. and Anna M. Wratten. Marie studied at Becker Jr. College, in Worcester, MA, and was a trust officer for a bank and was active in real estate and data processing businesses owned with her late husband, Roy L. Harper, Jr. Roy and Marie owned and operated Saxon’s Restaurant in Northboro, MA, where they were popular entertainers, Roy on honky tonk piano and Marie on banjo and vocals. After moving to Ormond Beach in 1987, Roy and Marie continued their entertainment career in local clubs and restaurants, and were avid and devoted members of the American Legion Post #267. Marie was also employed in administrative capacities with Volusia County Public Schools. Marie was predeceased in 2010 by her beloved husband of 52 years. Roy and Marie are survived by their four children, daughter Lynne A. Seeber and her husband, Brian, of Ormond Beach; sons Steven R. Harper and his wife, Meggan, of Ormond Beach; Richard T. Harper and his wife, Julie, of Ormond Beach; and Ronald E. Harper and his wife, Donna, of Highlands Ranch, CO; 11 grandchildren; and by Marie’s brother and sister in law, Thomas J. and Mary Wratten, of New Hartford, NY. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, Fr. Bill Zamborsky officiating.
