Chief Master Sergeant Fred Robert Kowing, 89, passed on to be in God's care on July 2, 2018. Fred was born in Winfield, Kansas, on June 17, 1929. He joined the United States Army at age eighteen and transferred to the newly formed United States Air Force in 1947, where he met the love of his life, Gloria Hatler. They were stationed all over the world including France, Germany, Italy, Thailand and Turkey and he retired after 30 years of service. Fred served with honor during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and the Berlin Air Lift. He was a devout Christian, former deacon and was a member of the North Peninsula Baptist Church and Tomoka Christian Church of Ormond Beach. His beloved wife, Gloria preceded him in death by only a few months after 66 years of marriage. Survivors include his daughters Deb Scott and husband Bob Scott, Shelley Denise Flint and husband Ian Flint, Dianne Kowing and husband Chris Vuille. He had 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His family will always remember his steadfast strength, love and devotion. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Cape Canaveral National Veteran.
