Frederick W. Wallen, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2016 with close family at his side while at his home in Ormond Beach, FL. He was born in Bronx, NY on May 20, 1943; he graduated from West Caldwell High School in NJ, graduated from Villanova University and served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Freddie was an outgoing, fun loving person who cared deeply for his friends and family. He maintained very close relationships with friends from all stages of life – growing up, high school, college and his life stages in New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Florida. Once a friend with Freddie, always a friend with Freddie. Frederick had a beautiful loving relationship with his wife Laurie Page Wallen, who he married on December 1, 2001. They lived a blessed life together in Sea Girt, NJ and Ormond Beach, FL. Fred had a long career in information systems sales – working for GTE, ITT Courier, Consolidated Computer, Computer Optics, Hitron and Wang. In his free time, he was a volunteer with the Urban Ministries Homeless Shelter and Meals on Wheels. Freddie was an avid golfer who was a member of the Plantation Bay Golf Club and past member of Westchester Country Club. He was the co-chair of the Interclub Golf Association and an active member of the Plantation Bay Golf Club Tournament Committee – he relished setting up a fantastic day of golf for his close network of golfing friends. In addition, he was an avid reader, fabulous cook and loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Fred was a huge Villanova University basketball fan. Recently retired from being an active golfer, he then picked up drawing and discovered late in life that he was a very talented artist.
Frederick loved to spend quality time and have fun with his extended family! He is survived by his loving wife Laurie; his son Derek, his wife Suzanne and their daughters Kaitlin and Ashleigh; his daughter Stacey Beltrami, her husband Aaron and their three sons Micah, Adam and Noah. In addition, he is survived by his sister Elizabeth McLaughlin, her husband Neil and by his sister Regina Wallen. Freddie had a very close relationship with Laurie’s family – including Laurie’s sister Tricia and her husband Kelly, their children Koi, his wife Shelley, Katie, Jessica, her husband Alex, and Laurie’s mom Kini. The family is so thankful for the many care givers and friends who did so much to help during Frederick’s time with Pulmonary Fibrosis, with special thanks to Florida Hospital Memorial Hospice and Lincare.
