Hilda A. Harris, age 91, entered peacefully into eternal rest on March 27, 2026. Born on February 3, 1935, in Quitman, Georgia, she later made her home in Ormond Beach, Florida, where she was a cherished member of her community.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026—Good Friday—from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow from 1:00 p.m. at the same location.
Hilda was a devoted Christian woman whose life reflected unwavering faith, love, and grace. She lived by the virtues of Proverbs 31, and her life was a testament to kindness, strength, and humility. A true Southern lady, she was known for her warm heart, her wonderful cooking—especially her cornbread and grits—and her joyful spirit.
She found great happiness in simple pleasures: spending time in the mountains, caring for her beloved Yorkie, Ginger, and most of all, being surrounded by her family. Her love for God and her family was the foundation of her life.
Hilda is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Linda (Tito) Adona and Carlene (Gary) Russell; her five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Patsy Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. While her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing she now rests in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
