For those who knew and loved Mama Lulu, they described her as loving, sweet, kind, nurturing, compassionate, and strong. She loved music. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and singing. She loves her family. She devoted her life to caring for her family and put her family first before herself.
Mama Lulu was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Lapena; her parents, Francisco and Florence Ponce De Leon; her 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her 5 children, Milagros Silcock, Teresa Babasa, Antonio Lapena, Miguel Lapena and Leonardo Lapena. She is also survived by large number of grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life Mass will be at 10:00 am on April 15, 2026, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach. After the Mass, there will be an inurnment at Volusia Memorial Park.
