On April 7, 2026, our beautiful mom. Shirley, said her final goodbye to her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law and many good friends. Words cannot describe the infectious smile and her willingness to listen and give advice to those in need and her love of family. We will miss her terribly but she has turned over keys to her daughters and the rest of the Roy family.
Shirley was born on February 5, 1924 in Watertown, New York to Bertha and Joseph Sobloskey. Until her marriage to Bert, she was a secretary to a group of publishers. Shirley married Bert on October 22, 1949 and began her lifelong dream of being a homemaker and eventually a mother to her 5 daughters.
Once her daughters grew up and started their own paths in life, she began her weekly volunteer work at the Pinkadilly Thrift Shop. Shirley was an amazing bridge player which she enjoyed well into her 90’s.
Shirley was predeceased in death by her husband of 50 years, Bert, her parents, brother Bob Sobloskey and infant daughter, Julie. Left here on earth to cherish her memory are daughters, Jean (David), Carol (John), Pat (M.J.), Ellie (Lynn) and CeCe (Mike), her grandchildren, J.J., Becca, Teri Beth, Jessica, Mike F., Courtney, and Mike C. as well as her great-grandchildren, Bryn, Maddy, Marinn, Bridget, Penny, Luke, Hayes and Walker.
Our family would like to thank the loving staff at Solaris Daytona for the wonderful care she received over the last 6 years as well as those from Halifax Hospice for their care the past 4 years and who were also a great support to our family these past several months.
Visitation will be held on May 1, 2026, at 11:00 at Volusia Memorial , 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, Fl. with a short service afterwards.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Halifax Health-Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL, 32129.
