Ronnie grew up in Ozone Park, New York, in a lively "little women" household as the youngest of 4 sisters. After graduating as salutatorian from John Adams High School, Ronnie worked in the secretarial field. On November 23, 1957, she married her lifelong love Bill Zachary. As Bill worked rotating shifts as a New York City Police Officer, Ronnie was a stay home mom to their 3 children. They enjoyed a "Norman Rockwell" family lifestyle in the quaint village of Lindenhurst on the south shore of Long Island.
In the late 1970's Ronnie resumed her place in the workforce, working at Barbizon School of Modeling in Babylon and also Crescent Graphics in Copiague. It was there that Ronnie picked up skills that, combined with her natural talent, lead her to a career in graphic design which she continued up until her illness a few months ago.
In 1980 upon Bill's retirement from the NYPD, Ronnie and Bill moved to Florida and made Ormond Beach their home, living happily across from the ocean for 42 years. Ronnie continued her career as a graphic artist, working for Florida Graphic, Daytona International Speedway, and finally for her son Bill's Daytona Beach based company Zgraph. At Zgraph Ronnie wore many hats over the years, graphic artist, web designer, client liaison, and bookkeeper. With Ronnie's tremendous attention to detail, amazing creativity and prompt service, Ronnie was well known and respected by many businesses throughout Florida.
Ronnie had a great love for people and they loved her in return. Ronnie has been a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and her family adored her. Ronnie lost the love of her life Bill 4 months ago. Ronnie was also predeceased by her sister's June, Martha and Rita.
Ronnie is survived by her daughters Mary Jo (Wehniainen), Eileen (Iseneker) and her son Bill. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Eric, Tara, Dylan, Michael, Joshua, Rebekah, Daniel and Grace and her precious new gift James, her great grandson.
A public visitation is being held from 12-1 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Ormond Beach, Tuesday, December 13, with a graveside service following at 1:15 pm at Volusia Memorial Park Cemetery next door.
