

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that the family announces the passing of Andrew Osumek on April 15, 2016 at the age of 68. He passed away at home with dignity and courage surrounded by his loving family. Born March 28, 1948 in Bydgoszcz, Poland to Aniela and the late Bolesław (2002). Love of her life, soulmate and best friend of Helen (Leszkowicz) for 42 years. Proud and loving father of Mark and Julia. Cherished Dziadzi of Kayla and Chase. Dear brother of Greg, Stan (Diane), Alina (Ron) and Barb. He will be dearly missed by Mary Leszkowicz (late Władysław 1980), brother-in-law of Walter Leszkowicz (Donna) and Leonarda Leszkowicz. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Andrew worked at GM for 30.4 years before retiring in 2009. Andrew’s love for winemaking, gardening, fishing, photography and auto racing will forever remain in the hearts of those who were touched by this intelligent, caring family man. He was a true handyman who could fix anything. Andrew was a very hard worker and will be forever remembered for his distinctive laugh, tremendous inner strength, kind heart and willingness to help anyone. The Osumek family would like to extend their appreciation to the compassionate doctors and nursing staff at Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for the care shown to Andrew and his family. A very special thank you to Dr. Lurie for his professional persistence. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, April 19th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Prayers at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Hedwig Catholic Church (411 Olive Avenue, Oshawa) on Wednesday, April 20th at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation – Pancreatic Research.
