Catherine Rose McMahon DeRoy

In her 97th year, with her family by her side, has gone to join her husband Joe (1996) and her beloved father and role model, Arthur (Gampy) and long deceased mother (Rose) and sister Patricia and brother Paul. She was an inspiration to her children Jim (Mary Anne), Judy (the late Lorne) and Kathy (John). She was adored by her 9 grandsons Jeff (Holly), Kevin (Amy), Rodney (Jacquie), Steve (Rachel), Steve, Dave (Lindsay), Mike (Ashley), Adam and Jon (Erin) and 15 great-grandchildren who thought their GG was the best. Will also be missed by her devoted niece Ann Pearson. She was a very gentle person, with a very strong character. Catherine kept up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives, offering her sage opinions as needed. She was an active and loving person who enjoyed cards, knitting and sewing. She leaves many dear friends in Toronto, St. Catharines and most recently at Marion Place in Oshawa. The family wishes to thank all her friends who stayed with her to the end. We tried to give back some of the care and love that we were given. Rest in peace Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Marion Place Tenants Association would be appreciated. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, July 17th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held at ST. MARY OF THE PEOPLE CATHOLIC CHURCH (570 Marion Avenue) on Friday, July 18th at 10:00 A.M. Cremation. Private interment at a later date.
