My dear friend and sister from another mother.  Myself and my sisters miss you and love you so much. But God loves you much more.
It's hard to find right words at a time like this. 

You made growing up much easier for me and my sisters, meeting you on campus at OAU, made us a close family. I can never forget the love you showed to me and my sisters after your first visit to my house and seeing that we are all girls. 

Yourself and your lovely sister Dicta, will always make sure you pass your 'old clothes' to my sisters. This goes a long way for us making growing up much more easier for us. You will always encourage me as the first born whenever I am thinking of my younger ones.
You became an angel for us, my family loves you so much. You are down to earth and so loving. 
I am personally proud of you, you fought, you conquered and you got the victory in Christ Jesus.

Ms Dat as you were fondly called by many, my sister's best friend. Always full of infectious smiles, it's so hard for me to write anything about you. You lived a good life and was so true to your friends and everyone close to you. You fought a good fight and lived on your own terms. To know you is to love you, strong, fearless and beautiful are a few words to describe you. I believe you are in a better place, I pray that it shall be well with all your loved ones you left behind especially your children. May God grant your loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Keep resting in peace in the bossom of your maker. 

Aunty you were so nice to me the first time I came to visit you through my friend, your younger sister. You were strong and positive throughout the period.  I’m assured that you were resting and looking down to the beautiful souls you left behind.

Ms. Dat,
How does one write a tribute about your sister that you always believed would be together with you till old age?  Every day I come back from work, I look forward to our daily gossip and gist, but now you have left me lonely without anyone to talk to.  I come complaining to you when upset, and you will tell me, Ms. Dic, do not allow those naughty people to upset you so as not to offend God. Hmmm!  What a way to depart from me.
Whenever I think of your passing away, I reminisce of our growing up in Surulere and Festac, ganging up together to escape our parents’ wrath, especially Ms. Mom.  With a heart that sees no wrong in whatever someone does, my sister was always ready to defend them.  That was how forgiving she was to so many people around her.
Wow, God understands and knows that if I had the capacity and can reverse your situation I will never hesitate, and you would never have gone through those excruciating pains.  I thank God for giving you to me as a sister that trusted me as I trusted her.  I have promised myself that I will always remember you in the best of times, and may God blot away the vivid images of pain.  It is also my promise that I will do anything possible for your lovely children Olly, Wewe, and Nana. I have told Nana that she is now the baby Oku, and that should up my calls even at midnight. Be rest assured that they are in good hands.
My darling sister, Ms. Dat, you know my heart better than anyone.  I am grateful to God for giving you the extra year to prepare you as a bride. I thank the Lord for making me part of that journey, and unknowingly as I look back you did not want me to know how much pain you were in. Still, I am thankful to the Lord Almighty that you know, I got your back any day, anytime.  I am glad where you are; there is no more pain nor sorrow. Ms. dat do not just be gisting with Ms. Mum, and Johnny Cool, always remember your children, husband, sisters, and brothers.

Aunty D like I usually call you , your death came as a rude shock to me . I remember the day you knew that I’m from your mother’s place,from that day on you took me as a sister. 
Even in your pain you still think of others. You will tell me how your trip to Canada wasn’t only for you but for us . WHAT A SWEET SOUL ! 
I will cherish every moment we spent together.

Wao Data, what a shock your passing is, a beautiful candle burnt out too soon! Hmmm that radiant smile and cheerful laughter gone but your memory lives on. Reading now that you lived right here in my back yard yet was so far away pains me for what could have been. I still can't believe you are gone. I wake up everyday hoping that you are still in your room listening to your Christian songs or watching movies on your phone. I miss your wise counsel, your words of encouragement, your peaceful manner, and the smile on your face despite all the pain you were going through.  My sister, you loved us all from the heart, you were a blessing to us, and the memories created will last forever. 

God gave you to us only for a short while, but when he saw that the pain was too much, he closed your eyes and whispered "Peace be Thine".  He lifted you to rest in his heavenly place.  We will always miss you, Ms Dats.  Your love will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace, my sister. 

This is no doubt a very painful loss. I had the privilege of meeting Data through my sister, ‘Banke in 1989 at Obafemi Awolowo University and she was not only a close friend to my sister but a friend  and sister to us all. She will be greatly missed and may the good Lord wrap His loving and steadfast arms of comfort around the entire family and friends all over the world. Adieu sweet Data. Eternal rest grant her O Lord and let your light perpetual shine on her. Amen.

"Friendship mi", "my CS" (confidential secretary).. those were some of the many endearments you called me.. I was perplexed when I read Dicta's message on the morning of Feb. 19th, ...I have not been the same since then...

I will miss you so much Miss Dat ... your boisterous hearty laughs when we are being mischievous, your wise counsel and advise, our gists !! 

That is my best mate gone!!  How I miss you already!!  You were perhaps the one person that knew everything about me, my trials,  my pain,  my joy and victories... you were there for me. 

 Thank you for taking me into your parents home when I needed a place to stay and my parents had relocated out of Lagos... your family took me in warmly... I acquired 4 more sisters through you... you became my family, my mother loved you,  you were friends... 

You found it easy to love people and it was so easy for people to love you back.  My friend,  the peace maker ... ever so sweet and warm. I learnt a thing or two from you

I am glad and grateful to God for allowing you to fulfil your plans before He called you over finally... and I know you are resting peacefully knowing that your beautiful children are in safe hands...

I never imagined that I'll be saying bye-bye so early..... but God knows best.

Ore mi, hmm, what can I say? My heart is still heavy when I remember you.  You weren’t a friend but a sister. I recall how we embarked on some ridiculous trips as single ladies. I recall how kind & trusting you were. No forming, guile, lies or jealousy. Your usual statement is "Bawo lase mase bayi?" meaning "how are WE going to do it now"? You saw my problem as yours my Yoruba speaking Oyinbo friend.  At your insistence, as wives, we would go shopping in bulk foodstuff & household items together from Lagos Market & share.  

I recall how you would come & pick up items from my place for your daughter not minding that they were previously owned by my older daughter. We would share them between my younger daughter & yours who were just two months apart. As far as you’re concerned, they’re sisters so what's the big deal?  

You made me buy my first piece of gold earrings. You told me Dicta was selling & I should buy. You paid on my behalf & I gave you the money in bits. 

When all these started, you came to my house to show me some of the signs & asked if I knew what it was which I didn't. Ha, Ore mi…. we didn’t know it would end up like this! Oye Olorun.  HE is Kabiyesi- no one can question HIM. 

Like every great relationship, the devil created a misunderstanding that kept us apart for some years but I bless God we were able to resolve it before you left.  I will never forget the almost 3 hour conversation we had when you gave me a blow by blow account of the lost years. I also thank God for the grace that you had enough time to raise your children to a certain age where they are no longer afraid.

 God bless your husband, children, siblings, friends who showed you exceptional love & care. Oriyomi couldn't believe we were sitting at a service of songs for you - Data.  Ha, death, where is thy sting?  
You were much loved and missed Ore mi but God clearly loves you more. There is no more pain now. May you continually rest in peace Ore mi.

I am sad that this is where i get to reminisce about you after not seeing you for at least the last 18 years.

Your demise came as a shock and so heart breaking but we cannot question God as he giveth and taketh away.

In Loving Memory of my very special cousin Data.

Data I had always known that there was something very special about you from the very first time I set eyes on you. I got to know you even better when I lived with you and your whole family before I got married. You were much more than family: you were such a fun loving cousin, sister and a friend at the same time. I still remember your laughter, all the fun times we had, the heart to heart chats and you found it very easy to confide in me. We lost contact over the years when I moved away but I still held you dear to my heart. I was very happy when you got married and was sad that I missed your wedding.
I was overjoyed at the family reunion in Lagos when Patrick got married. We hugged, took pictures and exchanged numbers. I met one of your children for the first time and was looking forward to meeting the others. Little did I know that this was going to be our last meeting. I was completely shocked when I was told that you had gone to our Creator. Data you went through a lot but you won the battle as there is no more pain. You are resting in peace now!

To your lovely children and husband; siblings: John, Mina, Dicta, Kaine, Nimi, Michael, Telema and your daddy, Chief Synger, I pray that God gives you the strength to bear this huge loss.

Data....very sad to hear of your passing. You were ever so beautiful, soft spoken and had a very infectious laughter. All the way from FGGC Sagamu days, I wondered how you always never lost your sense of humor when we were 'suffering' in boarding school but I found out it was your nature which I greatly admired. 
May God Almighty who has found you worthy to come home to Him wipe the tears from the faces of all your loved ones and make your remembrance pure joy.  
Though you have gone ahead, one day we  will all meet again. May our meeting be joyful in Heaven. May the Lord teach us to number our days.

My dearest and kindest aunty Data, 

I miss you so much. Your kind words, beautiful face, lovely smile and magnificent laughter. You would always greet me by saying hello aunty Bisi and I would reply hello aunty Data.  You were always so welcoming and always made everyone feel comfortable. Shawn, Trinity, and I are honestly heartbroken that you have physically left this earth,  but not our hearts. Thank you for blessing us with knowing you. I only wish that you got a chance to meet the baby, but I'm glad you accepted her and welcomed her into our family. I pray that all your children will hang on to their wonderful memories of you and want you to know that Fumnaya will not be alone because she is and always will be everyone's daughter. We will continue to love and guide her. You will truly be missed. I am happy that you are now resting comfortable and at peace in the house of the Lord with our other family members that have departed. You are gone but never will you be forgotten.

I chatted with Tosin Sodipo, on the 3rd of September, 2020.  After asking how she was doing, my next question was, how Data was doing. 

She told me, Data was in Canada, she didn’t mention that she was battling an ailment. 

I don't know, maybe it's old age, I barely remember most people's names from our days in Ife, but I remember "DATA SYNGER'S” name.  Her name was too unique for that village called  ile-ife.

Now she has gone to be with the Lord, it dawned on me, that I remembered her, not only because her  name was like a beautiful song, but because, Data was the song, beautiful, inside and out.  Her laughter was so infectious and I remember one story told about someone's UK winter experience that didn't go too well, that story made her overflow in laughter. 

Data, I know you are in Heaven resting with the Lord.  I hope they allow story telling in Heaven, if they do, I'd love to share that same story again with you  for a great laugh, just one more time.

Dear mom,
I love you with everything I am. When you left this world on February 18th, I not only lost my mother. I lost my best friend, my ally, my supporter, my advisor, my role model and my hero. I know you heard God’s whisper, calling you home, you did not want to leave me, I saw how you fought with your illness for 15 years. You loved me sooo much that you held on tight, until all your strength was gone, and you could no longer hold on. You taught me love, patience and endurance. You taught me how to pray and lead by example. You were precious a gift from God, so much beauty, grace, love, selflessness and patience you possessed. You touched my heart in so many ways, your strength and smile even on dark days made me realise I had an angel beside me. We had so many memories I remember.  My Mom also taught me about faithfulness. Over the years I have tried to emulate her the best way I could. If you start anything, always make sure to complete it. She also emphasized on the importance of keeping your word or promises. My mother also taught me to take care of others and the difference between right and wrong. She taught me to make the right decisions and reminded me about God’s kindness and love for me. You praised me whenever I did good and pointed out my mistakes with that gentle voice. You encouraged me to work hard in school and taught me how to read and write. I still remember your voice whenever you call me “Nana”. I think about you every day and you will never be forgotten. I know you are in a better place looking down on us, watching over me and nodding your head in approval. I want to tell you and the world you’ll always be in our hearts forever.  I miss you so much my Angel. I will always love you forever mummy and will make you proud everyday.
