I’m going to miss my loyal friend and fellow golfer!  
As members of the Oshawa Golf & Curling Club, Don & I golfed & curled together many times.  Don was a good smooth golfer, and fun to play with.  We belonged to a close-net group of 12 golfers who played together every Sunday Morning; then later switched to every Monday morning, when most were retired.  We took many golf trips together, either as a whole group or partial group.  We had 3 trips to Ireland, one to Scotland, about 14 to Myrtle Beach & many more to Florida.  Don & I were often ‘roomies’ on these trips.  We had a lot of fun & laughs together.
My wife Bev & I often reminisce on a fun trip we had with Don & Joan to Boston to see a 3-game baseball series between Boston & the Toronto Blue Jays.  Don, patiently & without complaint, drove all the way in their Chevrolet Impala.  Near the end of our trip home, Don kept driving along, while Joan & Bev & I got into partying on duty-free spirits.
Don now joins Jim Daniels, a mutually close friend & fellow member of the Monday Morning Golf Group.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Don. I had the pleasure of collaborating with him on a number of photo projects organized by the Oshawa Senior Citizens Centre Camera Club and The Robert McLaughlin Gallery. He shared his passion for photography and the history of Oshawa and was a joy to work with.

Don was my second supervisor when I was hired by General Motors in 1961.  

I remember him as being hard working, competent, levelheaded, fair and honest.

Although it has been many years since I interacted with Don, I never forgot him.

He will be missed by those who were lucky to know him.

About 75 yrs. ago, Donnie and I occasionally hung out together. We were part of the “Westmount Gang”, focused on fun. One long autumn weekend, someone suggested we go pheasant hunting in. Huntsville. Six of us, in two cars, started up Hwy. 12 on a Friday evening;  with shotguns and all the beer we could pack in the trunks. We stopped at Myrtle Station for gas and found the gas pumps unlocked. Cars filled, I left a note we’d pay on the way home. Denny Williams jumped out of the car before we left and tore up the note. Further up the highway, driving at about 75 mph. I felt a bumping from the rear;  Louie was trying to push me with his “souped 37 Chev. We eventually made it to Balla as dawn was breaking, and decided we needed to go for a swim to freshen up. Across the bay we started swimming. I never was a strong swimmer, about half way across;  with fatigue, too much beer, I lost consciousness, but just before, I went under the Good Lord inspired me to yell for help. Donnie, always physically strong, and never having drank too much, grabbed me and hauled me to shore. What a friend I have in Jesus . . . and Donnie

I am so very sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was a true gentleman in every sense. He was like a brother to my Dad , Alan Dionne.  He will be so missed. But remember how fortunate you are to have had such a great man in your life for so many years.  His spirit and teachings will remain with you forever. Take care, my thoughts are with you all
