Dorothy Tyson

December 31, 1926 – December 28, 2025

On the evening of December 28, 2025, Dorothy “Dot” Tyson passed away at Age Care Samac, in Oshawa. Born and raised in Oshawa, she settled into a long married life with Jack “Spike” Tyson, who passed in 2011, and together raised two sons, Shane and Chic Tyson.

Dot will be fondly remembered for her love of sports, a good detective novel, and knitting. She enjoyed a longtime membership at the Ladies Senior Golf Club at Country Lane and was a proud winner of the Ladies Senior Championship in 1986. One of Dot’s greatest pleasures was spending time with her grand children, she was a natural in her role as “fun” grandma. And everyone agreed, her lemon walnut tarts were the best!

She is survived by her sons, Shane Tyson (wife Marn Bachuk), Chic Tyson (wife Carolyn). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Paige, Max, Quinn, and Micaela, and great grandchildren, Theodora and August. She will be missed by her beloved nieces, Barb Fitchett and Robin Galbraith.

We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Age Care Samac who cared for Dot over this past year.

The funeral service will be private, with a celebration of life to follow in the 2026.
