Drew Armstrong

Loved son of Arthur and the late Anne Armstrong. He was a devoted father to Lindsay (Dave) and Eric (Jacquie), and a proud grandpa/papa to Declan, Addison, and Kruz.

Drew was the dear brother of John Armstrong (Leslie), Janice Hartwig (Russ), Elaine Salmers (Andrew), and Brent Armstrong (Cora). He will be remembered for the steady presence he brought to those around him, and for the quiet strength and care that marked his relationships and the way he lived.

Born and raised in Whitby, Drew attended St. Paul Elementary School and later Anderson Collegiate Vocational Institute. He dedicated his entire professional career to the Whitby Fire Department, beginning as a volunteer firefighter at 18 years old and rising through the ranks to become Fire Chief. Through hard work, commitment, and leadership, he earned the respect of his colleagues and the community he proudly served. He retired in 2009 after a distinguished career protecting and supporting the people of Whitby.

Anyone who knew Drew knew that he was never one to sit still. He had a deep love for hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. Whether he was working on a project, repairing something that needed fixing, or helping a friend or family member, Drew was always busy and always willing to lend a hand. He had a gift for bringing people together and took great pride in making sure everyone around him was having a good time.

Above all else, Drew's greatest joy was his family. He loved every opportunity to spend time with his family.

Drew's legacy of service, generosity, hard work, and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, ON, L1J2L4, on September 20, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at Oshawa Funeral Home on September 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Following the service, family and friends are invited to celebrate together.
