I'm sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. I met Bruce about 30 years ago when we were both involved with minor hockey. I always appreciated the job he did and the efficient, friendly way he did it. Although we didn't see each other for several years after the hockey ended, we crossed paths again at Cdn Tire and our conversations picked up like we had just seen each other the month before. There was one reason I got to work early, and it was so I could catch Bruce during his morning deliveries at one of our libraries. We'd chat about his scouts group, CP, old cars, and whatever else was on our minds until 30 minutes had gone by without us even realizing. Bruce was always a kind and caring person, and while he will be missed, he'll remain a part of the Markham Public Library family forever.

My dear friend Bruce,
I can only quietly sit here and think of those hilarious times you'd visit the library with a riddle or brain teaser, or a good-natured comment on how "hard" I was working :).  I will miss those moments, accompanied by your laughter and warm smile. You always had time to talk to me, even though you had so much work to do.  I remembered that I had promised you a cup of coffee next time I saw you...and it is with such great regret that I realize we will never get that chance. You were so enthusiastic, funny, so positive (though health-wise you had every reason not to be), and ultimately a person I will never forget.  God bless you Bruce.  And I promise we will meet and laugh again. My deepest condolences, prayers and supportive thoughts to your family during this difficult time.

When I would see Bruce during his deliveries at MPL he would always make a point to say hello and tell a funny story. I cherished my friendship with Bruce. He always beamed with pride and joy sharing his stories and photos of his family with me. He was especially fond of sharing his stories of Bryce as he's a little younger than my son Justin. It was always a good day whenever Bruce was around. May you be in peaceful slumber my friend.
