Gerry instructed me in one of my first coaching courses way back in high school. It is through him that I first fell in love with teaching.  Who would have throught that  I would later cross paths with both Lisa and Mike through similar work pathways.  My condolences to you and your family.

Lisa, I just saw this on the Board obituaries. I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine your grief and sadness. I am thinking you, Mike and your children.

One of my earliest memories after moving to Oshawa from Winnipeg was meeting a new classmate (Lisa Pettit, in grade 2) and one of my father's colleagues at DC, Gerry Pettit.  Mr. Pettit always treated me with sincerity and humor and I was very saddened to hear of his passing.  Lisa, Steve, Mike and to the rest of your family, please accept our condolences.

The Hughes family sends our condolences. He was a great friend, coach and mentor but most of all he was a example of how incredible leaders touch everyone with their passion dedication and selflessness.  We have all lost an amazing man. God speed my friend. You will be with me forever.

Gerry was one of the early "original" members of Durham College. Always upbeat, big supporter of college athletics and just a great all round kind of guy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

To the entire Pettit family: Gerry was a pillar in welcoming every student as Director of Admissions at Durham College 1969-93; a great golf and hockey coach; and  I also had the privilege of co-teaching the National Coaching Certification Program with Gerry. He treated everyone with his special combination of storytelling, professionalism and friendship.

Dear Florence and Family:  I am sending you and your family my deepest sympathy on the passing of Gerry, a lovely gentleman, husband and father!  I can remember back to the early 40's rollerskating at the Galt Arena when you said there was a good looking boy (Gerry) who was smiling at you!  He asked you to skate with him and of course you have been with him ever since!  When you married in sister Jean's living room you were quite the good looking couple! I was very sad to read about Gerry's death. I had worked with Gerry for a number of  years and very much enjoyed our working relationship.  My husband and I  had visited with Gerry while he was in the retirement home in Mississauga while visiting my aunt who also was  in the Home. We had lovely visits remembering
