I’m sorry to hear of Gil’s passing my condolences to the family.
We met Gil when he and Ruby moved in to the house next door to us on Civic Centre Drive. We became friends and had Christmas Eve get togethers, shared house keys, Ruby taught me how to make jam and Gil taught my husband how to make shelving and many other projects for the house.
We were sad to see Gil move away and now to hear of his passing. RIP Gil


Oh Grandpa. You never showed anything other than love and joy when we were around. Your love, light, humour, and kindness were all wrapped up in you and spread through us all. I know how much you loved us and I am so happy you got to meet and love my sweet boy. I still remember the gleam in your eyes and the beautiful smile that went from ear to ear when you met Negan for the first time. I am grateful we got you for so long, making our family 5 beautiful generations. If only everyone was so lucky. I will always remember your sassy comments about my messy bun hair and ripped jeans, always asking why I would spend my money on clothing that was already torn. It became a little thing between us and always brought a laugh. I will always remember how much I admired your talents and amazed at what you could create with your hands. I loved being able to come to you about questions I had with woodworking and you always were happy to help. Although it was hard to watch you the last few years change so much, we all learned a lot as well. We learned that time is precious. We learned that we cannot take our bodies and our brains for granted. We learned that we should always express gratitude and say I love you, no matter what. The last thing you said to me was I love you, Darling and that, Grandpa, will stay with me forever. 

I have known Gil all my life since well before he emigrated to Canada. Amongst other things, I well remember our holidays, when I was young, to the English coastal resorts of Great Yarmouth and Skegness and Gil’s regular complaints about the often inclement weather. Nonetheless, we all ploughed on and fully enjoyed our times together. Even after Gil’s emigration to Canada it was a joy to stay in touch, especially with the occasional telephone call. Whilst he never actually said who it was when calling, we always knew it was Gil with the “international call” message on the telephone screen. It was a particular pleasure when, some 20 years ago, Gil came over to England for a visit and called to see me and my family. As I got older (and I am now well into my retirements years) Gil insisted that I stop calling him Uncle Gil and just refer to him as Gil. He was the last of his generation from my family and so, whilst I did try, to me he always has been and always will remain my Uncle Gil. Uncle Gil I thank you for being such a joyous part of my life. Remembering Gil as a quiet man who loved his children and grandchildren. He was also loved in return. He enjoyed darts and was talented in his hobby in later years at woodworking. Rest In Peace Gil your journey is at an end. You’ll be missed by all who knew and loved you. Anne & Billy Shaw.

 When I was a child, all problems had ended with a single word from my father. A smile from him was sunshine, his scowl a bolt of thunder. He was smart, and generous, and honorable without fail. For the longest time, I thought he was invincible.

many,many years ago,i started out in darts,as i  got better i met this man which asked me too join his team,i played 3 yrs for him,still remember this to date,he helped me start to grow as a player.always in my heart respectfully john morrison
