Gunda Anderson

May 5, 1936 - September 26, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gunda (Daniel) Anderson on September 26, 2026, at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering Hospital in Ajax, Ontario.

Born to Auguste (Lukas) Stuart and Alfred Daniel, on May 5, 1936 in Hamburg, Germany, she was their only child together. She is also survived by her half-sister, Ute, who resides in Germany, and she was pre-deceased by another half-sister in Germany.

Gunda was the loving wife to Malcolm A. Anderson (predeceased) for almost 34 years. In 1954, she first departed from Scotland through Liverpool. England arriving to Montreal, Quebec by ship, where she resided for a number of years. She later moved to Whitby, Ontario where she became a long-time resident of 46 years.

Gunda was very much devoted to her nephews, nieces, extended family and close friends. She will be remembered as someone who was generous, thoughtful and helpful in times of need. She will be dearly missed.

Gunda was a community-minded woman, joining many community-focused events, particularly at the Whitby Senior Activity Centre. She had volunteered her time and efforts for over three decades.

Gunda enjoyed knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, and playing the games Scrabble and Dominoes. She also enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends, as well as self-learning books, jazz music and instrumental compositions.

Celebration of Life will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario L1J 2L4 on Monday October 5 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Interment will take place following the Celebration of Life at Groveside Cemetery located at 5155 Baldwin St S, Whitby, Ontario L1M 1T4 at 1:30pm.
