So sad to hear of Mr Shaw's passing. I always remember him as such a crafty, and loving neighbour. I spent the early years of my life at the Shaw's on a daily basis. John and I were inseparable! I have fond memories of travelling with the Shaws to their relatives homes in Lindsay and Norwood and to their lot on Sturgeon ("Stump") Lake. Many a Sunday dinner was spent in those locations. Driving in the back seat with Howard driving, John and I would pass the time joking around and laughing. The funniest occasions were sitting in the back seat while John was learning to drive and Howard was in the front passenger seat. What a hilarious show! Howard would do his best to keep the drive serious while John would do his best to keep me entertained. Howard was quite the craftsman, as well. He started out with a wood lathe producing bowls and candlesticks and then graduated to a metal lathe where he crafted marvelous brass canons among other things. I still remember when that giant metal lathe was delivered and how they had to "shoehorn" it into his basement. Howard was so kind and long-suffering as he watched his garage turn into a hang-out for all of the neighbourhood guys. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Rest in Peace, Mr Shaw.
