Irene Misiaszek

Passed away unexpectedly and peacefully with family by her side at the Lakeridge Health Ajax, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the age of 86 years.

Dearly beloved wife of Ted. Loving mother of Peter and his wife Ginette, and Christina and her husband Matthew. Cherished Nain of Alexandre, Sarah, Catherine, Aiden, and Rowan. Predeceased by parents Emlyn and Ceridwen Jones and brother Maldwyn. Will be missed by all her family and friends in Wales.

Irene was incredibly proud of her Welsh heritage. She was a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and Canada. She trained in Liverpool to become a nurse and a midwife, coming to Canada in 1964 on a work exchange. God's grace would have her meeting Ted, her future husband of almost 60 years, at a local dance and they fell in love. She practiced nursing at the Oshawa General Hospital before becoming an Educational Assistant at Msgr. Pereyma CSS. She loved travelling, singing, laughing, Wayne Gretzky, Jarome Iginla, tea, teddy bears, and the occasional rum and coke. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. A recent highlight was travelling through Wales with her whole family showing off her homeland and family. Irene was active in her community and church, giving over 50 years of service to the Catholic Women's League at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Oshawa, then at Holy Family Church in Whitby.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME 847 King Street West, on Friday May 29, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church (91 Ribblesdale Dr, Whitby). Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Reception will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church.
