Isobel McIlwee

May 8th, 1951 – February 13th, 2026

Aged 74 years

Isobel Mc Ilwee, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family, just the way she wanted. Isobel was born to Samuel and Henrietta Turner, in Belfast Northern Ireland. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Nanny, Great Nanny and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Isobel moved to Canada with her beloved husband, Malachy, in the 1970s, where together they built a life firmly rooted in faith and family. Though she made her home in Canada, Ireland forever remained in her heart. She stayed closely connected to her siblings and cousins back home and took great pride in raising her children and grandchildren with a strong sense of their Irish heritage and traditions, ensuring they knew not only where they came from, but how to properly enjoy a cup of tea and a good story.

She never missed the chance for a good game of bingo and relished a little friendly competition. Listening to Patsy Cline put her in her element, singing along, dancing with joy, and encouraging everyone else to join in. Her heart was open to all, family, friends, neighbours, and newcomers alike and her home reflected that same generosity. There was always a place at her table for Sunday dinners and room in her heart for anyone who needed comfort, companionship, or simply to feel they belonged. To know Isobel was to feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Malachy, and their four children, Seaneen (Ian), Malachy, Roisin (Bernie), and Rita; along with her cherished grandchildren, Ceila, Kiera, Brenna, Tiarna, Thomas, James, Isobel, Miya, Saoirse, and Sadie, who were the light of her life. She was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Anne-Marie. She also leaves behind her great-grandson, Eoghan, who brought her immense pride and joy.

The services are as follows:

Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home, located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, ON, L1J 2L4, on February 19, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The funeral service is scheduled for February 20, 2026, at St. Therese Church, 3800 Courtice Rd, Courtice, ON, L1E 2L5, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

A committal service following the funeral service will occur at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 355 Taunton Rd E, Whitby, ON, L1R 3L4, at 1:15 pm
