With deep sorrow we announce the passing of James (Jim) Robert Davis, on Thursday May 28, 2026, after a long courageous battle with vascular dementia. He is survived by his loving wife of 55+ years Susan (Sue) Davis, his beloved son Neal (Allina) Davis, and his cherished grandchildren Audrey and Garfield. Jim is survived by his elder sister Marie (Paul) Leddy, his younger brother Mike (Rose) Davis, and his sister-in-law Carol (Gary) Gay. He is predeceased by his younger sister Noreen (Harry) Cuffe, and his brother-in-law Terry (Myna) Peters. Jim is predeceased by his beloved parents Frank and Velma Davis, his parents-in-law Garfield and Fran Peters, and his loving Corgi Seiko. Jim was a beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Jim grew up in Oshawa and enjoyed many years in the Haliburton Highlands and Kawartha Lakes regions. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time swimming, hiking, and camping. Jim was known to be a gentle soul and was a friend to everyone. Jim would never hesitate to help out a friend or neighbour and he was known to extend an invitation to sit down to a good meal and conversation. Jim was a long-time employee with Ontario Power Generation, where he was a Superintendent when he retired.
Jim was an avid downhill skier and loved to water-ski and ice-skate. Jim loved to play golf, billiards, and darts, and also coached hockey. Jim and Sue travelled together across Europe and North America. One of his favourite past-times was dancing with his beautiful wife, Sue. They were known to have the best dance moves down at the Jubilee Pavilion. Jim loved to listen to his son Neal play live music at numerous venues and events across Ontario. Best of all, Jim loved spending time with Audrey and Garfield and being the best grandpa to his grandkids. They spent many hours playing cards, swimming in the pool, taking rides on the riding lawnmower, and creating new gardens and planting perennials.
Jim is dearly missed and will always be remembered for the generous, kind, and loving human being he was. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Gain Clinic in Lindsay, Ross Memorial Hospital, Lakeridge Health in Oshawa and Bowmanville, Ontario Shores, and Dr. Elizabeth Kung and all the staff at Taunton Health Clinic.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
