Peacefully, at St. Joseph’s at Fleming L.T.C., Peterborough on Friday, July 1, 2011, Norm Smyth, in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Mary. Dear Father of Lorraine and her husband Richard Schuett of Peterborough; lovingly remembered by his grandson Todd Schuett and his wife Natalie and by his great granddaughters Amanda and Brooklyn all of Sudbury. Predeceased by his sister Gertrude Garner and her husband Morris of Oshawa. Norm served overseas in World War II with the Royal Canadian Navy and was a former member of Branch 43, Royal Canadian Legion, Oshawa. He became a member of The Governor General`s Horseguards in 1940. He retired as a Superintendent with Durham Regional Police Service having started his policing career with the Oshawa Police Force. Norm was a former Deputy Grand Master of Lebanon Masonic Lodge in Oshawa. Private Graveside Service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby.
