Manayon "Manny" Asuncion
2 December, 1962 – 11 May, 2021
A loving son, husband and father Manayon Asuncion entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Monday, May 11th, 2021. He was 58.
Manny’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He spent a great deal of time serving the Lord through his God given talent in music. Through the years he also gave his time to the church teaching and sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Manny was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church, and community.
Manny is a humble and selfless individual who always and is able to lend a helping hand. Up to his last strength, he did volunteer work despite of his health condition as his way of showing his love for others. His battle with medical issues showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Manny stayed strong until the end.
Overall, Manny’s life was full of many blessings. He valued and cherished every moment with his family and friends. He took pride on his children’s (Patrick, Aaron, Alyssa) accomplishments and his love for his wife, Ermelita Asuncion is immeasurable. A beloved son to his parents (Virgilio and Carlina), a caring brother to his siblings (Matda++ and Robert/ Chona and Brucelee/ Virlina and Ronnie/Almendes and Rizza) and a doting uncle to all his nephews and nieces.
Daddio, Kaka, Manong, Uncle, Ninong, Parekoy… we will miss you greatly and we love you! YOU are a great person with a BIG heart.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral service will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa. Please join us in celebrating Manny’s life via the livestream for visitation on Friday, May 14 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and for the funeral service on Saturday May 15 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Christ the King Cemetery.

Pareng Manny was a joker, he has many humorous stories. Every time we come together and joke about how we are all aging and balding, he always says “lets just see on the finals”. I guess “the finals” he was referring to was not only about whos gonna be more bald in the end, but he meant to fight the good fight, keep the faith and finish the race as written in 2 Timothy 4:7. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Pareng Manny is the epitome of a brother, a friend and a faithful servant. Parekoy, Thank you for everything you have done for us. Sayang saan mu laeng nga inurayen ti paga abalayan tan!
To the family; in Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” Pareng Manny, You will be missed but never forgotten!
23 May 2021
I arrived to canada in May 1994. Around a month after, Sister Cecile’s aunt, brought me to a birthday party, which happened to be Patrick’s 1st birthday. This was the first time I met Pareng Manny and Sister Hermie. As well as, Pastor Teck and Sister Myra. Little did I know that this was the beginning of our journey with The Friends of Jesus Christ and my friendship with Pareng Manny.
Our friendship became closer when we spent every Sunday at practice for our worship services in Pastor’s basement. Pareng Manny was on the bass and I was playing the guitar. Aside from music, we also shared an interest in sports. We went to watch basketball and baseball games at the SkyDome, back in the day.
Pastor was right in saying that brother Manny was very faithful in his ministries. He was dedicated from the beginning to the end of his life. Pareng Manny was a self less brother. When I did not have a car, he used to pick us up for Sunday services. He is the kind of person, like the song says, “just call my name, and ill be there”.
Brothers and sisters, I have a confession to make. Brother Manny was too sensitive. Sensitive to the leadings of the holy spirit and sensitive to the chords of the guitar, because back then we did not have a “high tech” tuner, HE was our tuner.
In addition to that, he was sensible. Sensible means “Done or chosen in accordance with wisdom or prudence”. He was wise, he spent most of his time and talents for the church; building, repairing and even became a contractor. When you are faithful in little things, God will bless you with so much more, pastors can attest to this.

You know, one of the things I'll miss the most is being able to serve with him in the
Rev 5 ministry. How many people can say they had such an experience or oppurtunity to
serve and play music with their father like that? To think I'd be jamming out with my dad
in the same band, making music and just vibing, having a good time. You know, to others
it was just songs or music, but it was a geniuine time to bond with my dad and I really
cherished those times we stayed for practice and went to church early on Sundays for
practice before service. I'd always brag sometimes too to others like yeah, thats my
dad playing Bass and HARMONIZING at the same time or you hear that solo? Yeah that was
Manayon Asuncion was an amazing son, a wonderful and loving husband, and a great father.
Although you are gone, we all find peace and comfort in knowing you are no longer
suffering or in any discomfort. We find joy and happiness in knowing you are up there
with our Heavenly father watching and taking care of us. You're probably up in the
heaven's renovating God a new basement or doing base riffs to Sama Sama. I love,
and will miss you. Don't worry, i'll take care of us down here, just watch over us up there.

We are all gathered here today to reflect and celebrate the life of a man with multiple
names and alias's. To some hes Tito Manny, Parekoy, Pare, Manny Pacquiao, Uncle Manny,
mars, but to me, he was my Dad. An amazing son, a wonderful and God-fearing husband, and a
wondeful father. Although he's passed, he lives forever in our hearts, thoughts, and
memories. I Guess God really wanted this one.
My dad was one of the hardest working people I've ever known, and this is me being
totally unbiased. Even when he wasn't working, he was working...I've seen him do
100's of part time work and jobs and yet hes never satisfied. A man who was a ship man
came to Canada and learned absoutely every Handyman job that there was invented. Even
if he didn't know how to do it, he was resilient and cunning enough to figure it out.
I'm sure his fellow co workers and friends can attest to that. Out of all the projects
and jobs he's done, I would say his most signifcant job was helping turn
a warehouse on 181 Nugget into the church it is today. Never would I have imagined my dad
completing such things. Still blows my mind.
One of the most important things I admired was his heart to serve the Lord.
Regardless of the circumstance, the situation, or whatever was going on in his life,
he made it a priority to give onto the Lord and serve the Lord. Whether it be leading
bible studys when he was a leader, being part of the buhat ministry, or playing the bass
for Rev 5, his heart was of and for the Lord. Thats one of the things I mostly admired
him for, his heart for the kingdom of God.
Even when he was sick, he made sure that his faith remained strong and firm regardless
of the circumstance he was in. Over the past couple of weeks, just watching him deteriorate
physically infront of our eyes was one of the hardest things I've had to witness and
just being so helpless broke my heart. Even though his flesh was weak, his faith
You know, one of the things I'll miss the most is

Dearest Uncle and Ninong Manny,
Happy Graduation to heaven, Ninong!
You are such a humble, dedicated and faithful servant of God. It was inspiring seeing how you loved and served the Lord faithfully - especially through music. You sang and played bass/guitar for the Lord in the Rev. 5 ministry, during bible studies and even during family gatherings. Your life encouraged us to use our gifts and talents for God's glory and to also work hard, help others, spend quality time with family, and keep our faith and trust in God. You continue to inspire us to keep living for Jesus and to live life to the fullest.
You are an amazing Uncle/Ninong and a caring Lolo to Raychel. Thank you for helping build her beautiful room (she loves it :) Thank you also for all the laughs and joy you brought to our family, for being one of our wedding drivers and for helping build our lives and our basement (which is now our home). We're so grateful for the many days you came over to help built it and how you always did it with a smile. Thanks for teaching Gary how to sand, plaster, and paint walls too. We will never forget the day you spent shopping for materials with us. You helped us buy the perfect doors, baseboards, paint and more.
So grateful for all the memories and adventures we shared too (Family vacations, camping trips, cruise trips, long drives, and our many malunggay parties). We will miss seeing you around Ninong, but we're happy to know you're in a better place now with the Lord, rejoicing with Him. Thanks for everything! You've truly made such a positive impact in our lives and we will miss you so much, Ninong Manny! We love you!
To our Ninang Hermie, Patrick, Aaron, Alyssa, Lolo Virgilio, Lola Carling and all the siblings, may you always remember the wonderful memories you had together. Know he is always in your hearts and watching over you in heaven. Praying for strength, comfort and peace, today and everyday. We love you!

Dear Bro Manny,
Congratulations on your graduation to heaven!
You are known to be soft spoken and a man of few words but we heard your message loud and clear - that you loved the Lord Jesus Christ so much that you offered your life and service fully to him. You said, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain". And as you now enter the presence of God, listen to what he is saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant! Come and share your Lord's happiness!"
No word is enough to express our gratitude for the love and time that you shared with us. You were truly a blessing that the Lord gave not only to your own family but to the spiritual family of the Friends of Jesus Christ. You will be greatly missed.
We let you go and enjoy eternity in the presence of our God and Savior Jesus Christ! Do not worry about your wife, Sis Hermie and your children, Patrick, Aaron and Alyssa. The Lord himself will be their refuge and strength and their ever present help in times of need.

I thank God for your life, "Pards".
I praise and thank the Lord for your faithfulness in the Rev5 Music Ministry.
One thing that amazed me, is that you can play the guitar and bass even without chords in front of you. We will missed you in the music ministry.
You are one of those brother in our spiritual family who is always smiling 😊and full of energy doing work for the church.
When you were just new here in Canada, you will call me "Miss beautiful" and I told to one of your relative and she said that you cannot remember my name. One day you asked me to be a Ninang (godmother) to your firstborn son.
I call you "Pards" and you call me "Mars" whenever we see each other.
Jesus said to her,"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live , even though they die.

Ninong Manny, we will miss you.
It has been an honour to call you our Ninong and an absolute privilege to have been able to serve the Lord and play alongside you all of these years. No one can play bass and harmonize at the same time like you. Sundays just won't be the same.
But we take comfort in knowing you are with the Lord right now and enjoying His presence.
Ninang Hermie, Pat, Aaron and Alyssa, we pray for your comfort during this difficult time. We love you all.

Dear Uncle Manny,
We thank God for your life and for the memories we will forever hold in our hearts. You have been a blessing to us all, and our Spiritual family would not be the same without you. We will miss seeing you playing in the music ministry on Sundays. We'll also miss having you with us as we watch the guys playing basketball. Although you are no longer here, we know you are in a better place with no more pain or suffering.
To Auntie Hermie, Patrick, Aaron and Alyssa - we love you and pray for comfort and peace.

Beloved Manong, Kuya, Ninong, and Tito Manny,
We thank and honour God for your life. We’re so blessed to have you in our family. Your kind character will remain in our hearts and our memories. You were the kind of person who didn’t think twice about helping others and our family. You were a simple and humble person, a man deserving of recognition.
Manong, you always wanted to us to work together and I always appreciated that. You were a "jack of all trades". I vividly remember the time we went to Quebec and you were willing to drive in such foggy conditions, I was amazed by your driving skills Manong. Ever since we were young, I looked up to you and we treated each other like real brothers.
Kuya Manny, you were truly a family man; I admire the way you and Ate Ermie raised such godly and bright children, Patrick, Aaron and Alyssa. I witnessed your service and faithfulness to the work of the Lord as well. Not all men offer their talents to God the way you did. Your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. To us who witnessed your life, praying that God will use your story to touch people’s hearts and souls.
I’m so glad that my parents decided to choose you as one of my Ninongs. I’ll always remember the your wholehearted service to the Lord in the music ministry and even in our family gatherings. Your name will always be mentioned in our conversations Tito/Ninong Manny.
We know that your labour in the Lord was not in vain, it will be rewarded. Continue praising the Lord with your musical talents in heaven. We will cherish your beautiful memories.
To your family: Ate Ermie, Patrick, Aaron and Alyssa, along with Auntie Carling, Uncle Iliong, Chona, Virlin, Almy, and their families… As a believer in Christ, we know that strength, comfort and peace comes from the word of God. We leave you these verses to meditate upon, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
Rest in God’s loving arms Manong Manny.
We love you so much,
Jack, Lorie, Jacqueline and Jake

Thank you MANONG for sharing your life with us. We are so grateful for all the love and help you shared to our family.
You're an epitome of a perfect family man, a loving brother and brother-in-law and awesome tito to Almira. She will surely miss all your playtime and funny times together. No more "babuski tito Manny. See you tomorrow". When you're leaving she gonna say ..."see you tomorrow Tito", you start laughing because she always look forward to see you everyday. We really miss the days you have your lunch break at the house.
We treasure the days we spend time with you during the hard times when we're taking care of Tatang and Nanang. With your prayerful spirit and positive outlook that inspires us everyday. You're always there to lend a helping hand.
AGAIN thank you so much MANONG! Its hard to say goodbye but our consolation is that you are now in God's hands. You have fought a good fight, you finished the course and have kept the Faith (2 Tim 4:7)
We love you and surely miss you. You will always be in our hearts, our thoughts and prayers, until the day where we are together again.

When we moved to Ontario in 1997, Manny and his family were one the first families that we met and became acquainted. They opened there home to us and we become part of their spiritual cell group, we become good friends and we become family.
We have the honor of being the Godparents of their second child Aaron and we started calling each other “Parekoy”.
Looking back, I realized that Manny was the longest friend I known. We have created a lot of memories together. I know him as a friend who loves camping, fishing, travelling (great driver), singing, joking (lots of funny seafarers stories), building things with his hands and most specially a person who loves to sing and praise the Lord.
We camped many times in Ontario's provincial park and while camping, he brings his guitar so we can sing at night. Also, he brings his fishing rod so we can go fishing. We travelled long distance a lot (US and Canada) and I can tell you, he is one of the best driver I've seen. In our free time, he love to tell his seafarer stories and joke around about everything. He is fun to be with.
The last thing that we did together was my basement project. He is a person that you don’t need to ask for help. He will come to the house and help despite of his busy schedule and offer his talent out of love. I will surely miss my dear friend.
I still cannot believe that he is with the Lord now…It is too early…It is too soon but we have to release him so he can enjoy the room that is reserved for him in heaven. God needs a handyman and he call you Parekoy!
No more pain, no more suffering…Until we meet again.
I love you from the bottom of my heart.

We want to express our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of Manong Manayon.
Manong,we've never seen you again for a long long time but I know you remained the same,a kind and a humble person.
I remember when we had dinner here in Manila with uncle and aunti carling after Mg Matda's passing, sabi ni auntie na sinuggest mo daw na baka pede tayong mag reunion(Asuncion clan) imbes na nagkikita kita lang pag me namamatay. We got so excited and we were looking forward to that but unfortunately you left us this soon, ikaw ang nagsuggest pero ikaw ang nang iwan but we might as well have our reunion in heaven in God's time.
Manong thank you so much for the life you shared with us your cousins. You are now in a better place and that comforts the whole family especially your wife and your kids.
Rest well manong.We Love You❤❤❤
PS. Pls extend our tight hugs to tatang and my daughter Abby

I am thankful to God that my family have seen him about 3 weeks before God took him home....have time to chat with him ...prayed for him and with him. He even gave Avie a birthday money.😊❤️.What a generous heart he has!
I thanked God , we listen to His prompting to passed by your house. One of the memories that I will cherish in my heart, seeing Kuya Manny with smile on his face though in pain yet trusting God.
Kuya Manny is not dead...he just crossed over from death to life ...he is ALIVE......the truth anyone who is in CHRIST will experience....and that comforted me...and I pray will bring comfort for the rest of the family.
Let us keep trusting...keep believing...keep our faith, for surely God will reward us of eternal life which is in Christ.

Your jokes always get me, and I will really miss that! I will never forget the last full conversation we had - you taught me that even through pain, you will continue to serve God. To our dearest Manong Manny,
It is my absolute honour to call you my cousin – You are God fearing who was faithful in the music ministry as the guitarist, loving husband, wonderful Father to your 3 children, a caring son and brother to your siblings. You are incredibly humble, helpful in all aspects and always had this way of making us all laugh with your sense of humour.
You have made such a big impact and touched the lives of many because of who you are as a person. I will treasure all of our memories together throughout all the years most especially during our “Malunggay” gatherings.
Although our heart is filled with so much pain that you are not physically here with us anymore, let us celebrate and give thanks to the Lord for the blessed life He had given you. This is but just a reminder that this world is not our home and we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven. We will surely miss and we love you so much!

Daddy - we will always remember you. You inspired us the way you lived your life. You always give your time to those who needs you. You always help those who needs your help. You always come to our rescue when something needs to be fixed at home or something needs to be done. You always attend our Bible Study even it is just you and me, even when you are tired from work, or even when you come late, still you would come and attend. Your service to God and your faith has been a good example to all of us. I know that when you face God, He will say to you "well done good and faithful servant". Your crown and rewards in heaven awaits you. We love you Daddy and we will miss all your jokes, your laugh, your talk - everything. You left us so sudden and we were not prepared for it, but God has a better plan for you. We will see you in heaven in times to come.
To Mom, Patrick, Aaron and Alyssa - we know you will miss Daddy so much. Remember that we are always here for you. May God be your strength always and that you will find joy and peace knowing that Daddy is in a better place. We love you.

I remembered Manny when my family arrived in Canada that the Lord used him and his family also his auntie Puring and that it’s so happened that this day she also gone with the Lord . They stayed all together in the apartment . They adopted us as their family we shared in one apartment until we got one for us. The first Sunday his family and mine went to their church the Friends of Jesus Christ to worship and listen the words of the Lord. At that time I was newly believer not knowing much about the Lord I was never read the Bible very openly. Thanks for him that my faith in the Lord grow stronger and to know more about God. He is also the the one who put me to work together in Randomlane as frame makers and do painting as well. It’s not my category because my previous job is mixing medicines for the patients but I’m mixing paints instead. Wow that’s not good. I’m in medical field or a front line but no choice it’s God purpose no question about it. Thanks for him because when my family moved to Florida USA I used this skill painting our own house that the Lord provided for us. Manny is always happy when we have conversations joking with our brothers in the church. His family and other family they came to visit us in USA and it’s really long driving .But.because of friendship there is no words to say for such long journey . The fellowship ,sharing blessing going to the beach to the church going places is the most happy moments that we have together. The memory of my beloved brother is unforgettable I missed him. Thanks to the Lord Almighty for him. Rest In Peace my friend…You are part of my life what I’m right now my life changed because you brought me into the knowledge of knowing more the Lord Jesus Christ as the foundation of my faith.Great is thy Faithfulness.Ame!
