Olympia "Ollie" Garcia Navarro

Joined her heavenly creator on May 23rd, 2017 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace, as she passed at home, surrounded by her loving family. Ollie emigrated from the Philippines in 1962 and devoted her time caring for others as a Registered Nurse, where her exemplary care and compassion shone through. She married her love, Basilio Navarro in 1969 and raised two daughters, Haidee and Michelle, with tenderness, love and patience. Along with her love and devotion to her family and friends, Ollie loved all forms of competition, and was an avid sports fan, passionately cheering on her favourite teams with a gusto that people came to know and love her for. Ollie is survived by her husband Basilio; her daughters Haidee and Michelle; her son-in-law James; her grandchildren Miranda, Mary, Isobel and Hunter; her sister Martina Orioste and brother Renato Garcia. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME , 847 King Street West, (905-721-1234) on Monday May 29th, from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC CHURCH (91 Ribblesdale Dr., Whitby) on Tuesday, May 30th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
