Auntie Elinor, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Alex...we spent so much time together when we all lived in Saudi that I have always viewed you both as more than family friends. Uncle Alex taught me to love grilled filet mignon and always had a joke and a twinkle in his eye. The photos from our trip to Kenya make me smile and I will never forget the day we got 'stuck in the mud' on the Serengeti and Dad and Uncle Alex had to carry us to a high spot while they stripped off their shoes and socks and helped push the van out. My condolences to you and your family. He will always be in my memories.

With love,
Dawn

My condolences to Elinor and the Robinson family on Alex's passing. I always enjoyed our annual get togethers at income tax time, especially his stories about his time in Saudi.

Rest in peace, Alex.

So sorry to hear about Uncle Alex's passing. I have great memories of summers in the pool in Oshawa, especially Uncle Alex encouraging me to try the slide for the first time, even though I was terrified. He was such a strong and engaging presence at family events. You are all in my thoughts, and I hope good memories will sustain you through the pain of loss.

Amanda and I were honoured to have known Alex, he was such a warm and gentle man with always a smile on his face. It was always "good day Mr. Stiff' when he would see me in the Choir room, as "Stiff" was Steve in Saudi, also a clever pun! His tenacity and "no nonsense" approach to life was so endearing to witness. It was always fascinating to hear of the life he and Elinor shared in Saudi Arabia and the many adventures they had. Alex's love of singing will resonate with us forever, as it was such an amazing honour and privilege to sing hymns with him in his very last days. Our deepest condolences to Alex's family, may they find resolve in knowing he is now at peace.

Hi Elinor:
Our most heartfelt condolences. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Alex and are thinking of you in this sad time. Alex was like a second father in Saudi as I was alone in a place far away from home and I will always cherish his memory. I can never repay the precious moments of his company and yours and will cherish for-ever the good times we had together, especially at your place on the week-ends in Murcelat compound and the visits to Oshawa. It was a home away from home. Lina & I are thankful that we at least had a weekend visit last summer, never dreaming it would be the last with Alex. Going forward we wish you all the best . Since we are still in Kuwait we will be thinking of you in the days ahead and remembering Alex and all the good times we shared. Alex old buddy, rest in peace!

Elinor. I am so sad to hear about Alex. We had some special moments with Alex and yourself. It was a tough time for all us Canadians in 1978 being in a country so foreign as Saudi Arabia. It was so good to have Alex as a friend and co-worker in that environment. Alex company and other Canadians made the stay in that country bearable. He spent many evenings and days with me and my family in the early years so much so my daughter knows him as 'uncle Alex'. When you joined Alex it was special to be with him when we picked you up at the Riyadh Airport. The many times we spent together for dinners and parties and our fantastic holiday in Kenya will always have a indelible place in my mind.
