Passed away peacefully at his home, with his loving family by his side on Thursday, September 29th, 2016 at the age of 86. Loving husband of Gwen for over 61 years. Beloved Dad of Sharon (Larry), Cindy (Ron), Bryan (Joanne) and Leanne (Mike). Cherished Grampa of Andrew, Justin, Angela, Michelle, Michael, Jennifer, Raylene and the late Christopher. Proud great grandfather of Brayden. Sadly missed by his sister Mary, and predeceased by his sister Ilean. He will also be missed by his in-laws, extended family and many friends. Rube will be sorely missed by his feline friends Ringo and Rambo. Special thanks to Lakeridge Palliative Care ‘purple team’ especially Dr. McAllister, Sheri, Sue, Patricia and Helena for your compassion and support. We couldn’t have made it through this without you. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Monday, October 3rd from 1:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Interment at Thornton Cemetery. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted for Palliative Care at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society or Durham Region Humane Society.
