Obituary of Ann E. McDonald
Ann Elizabeth McDonald, 79, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, January 19, 2019, surrounded by family in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Ann was born October 4, 1939, the daughter of the late William and Lila (Mason) Guttridge. She was the third of five daughters. She grew up in Saginaw, Michigan and graduated from Arthur Hill high school in Saginaw. Ann was a truly special person who touched many people in her lifetime. Ann had great enthusiasm for life, family, and fun. She loved her nightly glass of white zin, coffee with her friends, garage sales, fishing, bridge, reading, dancing, and laughing. Ann was an avid golfer. Ann married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Robert McDonald on September 13, 1958. To that union, five children were born: Julie, Robert, Anne, Michael and Christopher. Together, Ann and Robert raised their children in Flushing, Michigan, where they resided for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sister, Mary Giorgis and Linda Guttridge, and special friend Janet Bland. She is survived by her husband of 60 years; two sisters, Barbara (Dennis) Wright, and Jane (Ron) Keller; five children, Julie (Bruce) Christian, Robert (Donna) McDonald, Anne (Steve) Hoopengardner, Michael (Amy) and Christopher McDonald; her grandchildren, Sara (Matt) Mroczkowski, Zachary McDonald, Kaitlyn McDonald, Lacey (Jordan) Littman, Madison Hoopengardner, Nolan McDonald, Nicholas McDonald, and Andrew McDonald; two great-grandchildren, Tessa and Keaton Mroczkowski; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on February 1, 2019 at Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State Street, Saginaw, MI, 48602 at 11:00 a.m, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association. Alz.org.
