Dorothy L. Patten, 98, of Ossian passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018. She was born on September 28, 1919 in Allen County, a daughter of the late Alfred and Edith (Counseller) Johnson. She worked for 26 years for the United States Postal Service all of those years at the Yoder office where she served as postmaster. She was a member at Ossian United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending her time gardening, quilting, bowling, reading, and spending time with her family. Surviving family include her son, Robert “Bob” (Deanna) Patten; daughter, Dianna (Steve) Huycke; daughter-in-law, Joyce Patten; grandchildren, Troy (Angie) Patten, Stacie Lister, Kristie Koenig, Kevin (Meredith) Patten, Jeanine (Terry) Patten-Coble, Jason (Diana) Patten, Josh Patten, Heather Starkey, Craig (Jesie) Huycke; 21 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Illa Patten; sons, Larry and Stan Patten; grandson, Tracy Patten; and siblings, Robert, Carl, Raymond, Merle, and Arlon Johnson, Mary Dowty, and Norma Snyder. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Memorials may be made to the church.
