Obituary of Ilene L. Meyer
Ilene L. Meyer, 85, of Ossian passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. She was born on January 28, 1935 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Hugo and Emilie (Bohnke) Fackler. She married Wilbur Meyer on July 9, 1955; they were married for 58 years before his passing in 2013. She worked at Bohnke Insurance, J.C. Penney, K-Mart, and Walmart. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ossian where she was a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Ladies Aid and LWML. She enjoyed mixed double bowling with friends, going to the cottage at Westler Lake, sewing, and crafts. She also enjoyed working with flowers and created many pieces for weddings and other occasions. She also played Euchre, bingo, and did jigsaw puzzles at Ossian Health Care where she had resided the past few years. Ilene will be remembered for her “world famous” chocolate chip cookies and hosting all the family gatherings at her house. Surviving family include her children, Stanley (Patricia) Meyer, Sanford (Trudi) Meyer, Sheldon (Cindy) Meyer, and Sherry (Bret) Cole; 11 grandchildren, Tyler Ambriole, Laura, Kristen, and Jared Meyer, Eryan Meyer, Stephanie Fawcett, Shelby Todd, Alicia Lewis, Heather Jones, Evan and Holly Cole; two step grandchildren, Dayna Taylor and Geoffery March; nine great grandchildren, Lola, Lucille, Henrik, Adahleen, Amelia, Jackson, Finnley, Penelope, and Brantley; two step great grandchildren, Landyn and Dmytri; and son-in-law, Ted Ambriole. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Wilbur Meyer; daughter, Shelley Ambriole; and sister, Bertha Ann Fackler. Funeral service will be 1:30 pm on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6514 East 750 North, Ossian with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 1-4 pm on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian. Masks are preferred to be worn by those attending the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran School Endowment Fund, Worship for Shut-Ins, or Donor’s Choice.
