Barry was born on November 27, 1950 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Joseph and Virginia June (Weiss) Perkins. Barry started school in Dietrich, Id. The family moved to Othello in 1957 where Barry continued his education and graduated from Othello High School in 1969.
After graduation he held numerous jobs in the area, he worked as the ground crew for Wayne Gardner of Othello Flying Service, then later on hauling hay with Jack Larson. As a young man Barry became disabled and unable to continue working.
Barry was a free spirit, embracing life. He traveled the western United States hitchhiking, often showing up at his brother’s house in Montana unannounced. He enjoyed dancing, loved animals especially his dog and will be remembered for cruising the streets of Othello on his scooter with his dog in tow.
His parents, a brother James and his nephew Christopher Michel, preceded Barry in death. He is survived by his brothers Ken (Karen) Perkins of Missoula, MT, and Robert (Lila) Perkins of Othello, and his sisters Dianna (Jim) Michel and Sandi McKernan both of Othello, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barry’s family want to extend a special thank you to Dr. Chris Schuler and the staff at Avalon Care Center.
