Sheryl Mastre. She was born on January 22, 2002, in Othello, WA. She brought sunshine and spice to our home for a little over 10 years. God reached down and took her to Heaven on June 2, 2012, while we, her daddy and mom, held her in our arms. Whitney had battled cancer for over 3 years.
Whitney was an extra special child and we cherish all the memories and happy
times together. Her bright smile, mischievous look, and gleeful giggle made her
everybody's friend. Whitney was always up early, waiting for the rest of us to get up. She would wonder, “What are we going to do today?” She loved people and was delighted to have company or go away. Grandpa’s house was a favorite. Everyone was the same in her eyes; rich or poor, simple or wise. Those around her loved her, and if she sensed sadness in anyone, she was there with comfort.
Whitney and I, her mom, shared a special bond through the years which grew
dearer in her time of sickness. Whitney and her sisters spent many happy times together. Lynsie, being close in age, was a best friend. Whitney loved to go to school and adored her teachers. Her classmates were her buddies. She looked forward to hot lunch day. Whitney loved singing. She was often seen with a songbook waiting for someone to sing with her. She also loved books. She would be seen with a stack of books and would say, “Read to me!” It was a joy to check the cows with me, her daddy. Branding days were a blast!
The time we spent in Africa is a special memory. Whitney loved the Shona
singing. She loved the black people and especially the old ambuyas. There she had lots of chances to eat one of her favorite foods, rice and beans!
Though we miss her, we know she is happy now in Heaven. If she could talk to
us she would say, “Stop Crying!" Those left behind but waiting to meet her on that happy morning are: Her dad and mom, Jeremy and Sheryl, sisters: Lynsie Jan, Kortney Paige, and Kadie Brynne; grandparents: Lloyd and Luanne Holdeman, Wrens, GA, Rick and Cindy Mastre, Connell, WA, great grandparents: Robert and Rose Giesbrecht, Othello, WA, Roy and Marlyn Mastre, Bonners Ferry, ID, Betty Giesbrecht, Louisville, GA, uncles and aunts: Jonathan and Jaclyn Mastre, Connell, WA, Mitchell and Marjorie Holdeman, Stapleton, GA, Kevin and Julie Lehman, Dalton, OH, Chad and Shauna Mastre, Connell, WA, Richard and Rachelle Wedel , Hoople, ND, Curtis and Lareasa Mastre, Rebecca, Ryan, and KariAnne Mastre, all of Connell, WA, a special family friend, Miss Maria, and many, many other relatives and friends.
