It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan John William (Al) Lawson on Friday, May 8th, 2026, in his 99th year. Al was the loving father of Claire (Jim), Jill (Ed) and Dawn (Kevin). He leaves behind his three beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacob (Hilary) and Darby (Holden) and his soon-to-be great grandson. Al was predeceased by his lovely wife Ursula (nee Weston) and his parents, Walter and May (nee Batchelor).
Al had a dream of travelling the world and he did just that, very often on a bike, travelling throughout much of Europe that way. He saw many different countries in Africa, the Middle East, the US and Mexico through work. After 4 years in the British Royal Navy, he married his love-at-first-sight life-long partner, Ursula in 1955. He and Ursula immigrated to Canada in 1958 living on the West Island of Montreal in Pointe Claire for most of their lives. He was very proud of his choice of home and the area, a wonderful place to bring up children. Al’s career took him from Deka in England to RCA in Montreal then later SPAR Aerospace in Kirkland, as an engineer working on microwave and telecommunications systems. His passion was cycling and he was a long-time member of the Beaconsfield Cycling Club and the Beaver Tails Nordic Ski Club in Montreal.
