Norma, Mark, and Lynn:

I was listening to Verdi tonight, and thought of Al and Norma, who introduced me (reluctantly at my young age) to Opera and classical music.  I chanced to Google Mark Alain Pinard, and came across Alain's obituary.

I am so deeply sad for your loss.  I don't know if you recognized at the time that  I had basically adopted Al as the Dad I never had.  Your family had a great influence on me…the way that you trusted Mark and I to make responsible decisions and be accountable for them despite our young ages at the time.

I am so grateful for the wonderful parents you were for Mark, and for the extra affection that you shared in abundance with his friends and acquaintances through our high school years.  What I wouldn't give to see Al knuckle-punch Mark one more deserved time!

Thanks also for the way you shepherded all those NACOA folks all around the world…my mother included.

I hadn't seen Al in several years, and was concerned about his health when we last met.  I was comforted by knowing what a wonderful, supportive, and patient wife he had in Norma.

What a great life Al lead.  We can all only hope to do as well.

To the family of Al Pinard. I knew Al for over 30 years as a fellow ski instructor at Camp Fortune. We shared many great moments and conversations together over the years and having just learned of his passing I wish to express my condolences. He always talked of his family and I shall miss speaking with him this winter.

I'm very sorry for your loss.  I grew up on Dorset Drive, and taught skiing with Al at Camp Fortune.  He always had a smile; always had time to chat; and always had great advice.  I will miss him.

Dear Norma - with sadness we learned just today of Al's passing. We are grateful for the few years we lived just down the street with you on Dorset Drive. Many times Al shared tools and advice with us - especially on how to shovel snow the first year we moved into the neighborhood. We love you and are praying for you and your family. Ms. Pinard and family: Please accept my sincere sympathies.  At BYC while I was at high school, I crewed in races on Lightning class boats, eventually with his father, Dr. Victor on "Mistral."  Alain taught me the finer points of maintaining and preparing the boat in the spring.  Later, we met occasionally at DSS.  Dr. Victor, Jacqueline and Alain were very kind to me.  It was very sad when Alain left BYC.  All his friends were aware of his passions for music and skiing.

To the Pinard family:  I was very sorry to read about Al's 7passing.I used to work with Al in the Executive Secretary's Office at the former Department of Supply and Services.  if I can think of one word to describe Al, it would be "Gentleman".  We certainly had a group of characters in that office, but Al always showed us a bit of class. I have very fond memories of him.  My deepest sympathies.

Dear Norma and family, please accept my condolences on your loss. Al was truly one of a kind! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know him over the last 5 years.  I will always treasure the lessons he taught me: that life should be approached with zest and humour and that each day is a gift to be opened with zeal! I will miss his boisterous, joyful approach to life.

My sympathies to Norma, Mark and Lynn. Alain had such an interesting and active life that was truly impressive. My family and I very much enjoyed our time with him. Best wishes.

My father, Harry Rosewarne (passed away in 2013), was a friend and fellow ski instructor at Camp Fortune, of Mr. Pinard. He spoke often of his friend, Al.

My condolences Norma, on your loss. I recall fondly the day after a snow storm in Ottawa, and I was shoveling the driveway across the street and when I looked up there was Al getting out his snow blower to help me, he came over and we finished it together. I was so impressed that he did that on a cold winter day when he didn't have to. My thoughts are with you.
