Passed away at the age of 102, Anna was born in Narva, Estonia and came to Canada as a refugee from the Second World War. She loved her family above all else and was happiest in their company. She also was fond of a “good party” filled with conversation and laughter.
Predeceased by her parents Evdokiya and Pyotr Matvejev and her sister Aleksandra, of Estonia. Anna will be missed by her beloved children Jean (Susan), Pierre (Pilar), and Aline, her grandchildren Zachary (Carly), Aaron, Joseph (Tanya), Claire and Julia, and her great-grandchildren Mason, Presley, Ella and Sterling.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church, 721 Somerset Street West, Ottawa, on May 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
