Passed away peacefully on April 1, 2019, a nod perhaps to his love of irony, jokes and laughter.
He is survived by Lorraine, his great love, best friend and wife of 57 years. He leaves behind his three children Lisa, Susan (Ted Bolick) and Matthew. He was a proud grandpa to Danielle, Nicole, Angela and Raphael. He was the last of his generation having been predeceased by his siblings, Mae, Gerald, Evelyn (Garfield McDonald), Frank (Martha), Bobby (Pierrette) and Clare. He was also predeceased by two nieces, Cathy Galarneau and Glenda McDonald. He is survived by sister-in-law Lois, brother-in-law Michael, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Bernie was blessed with a full and happy life. He loved people and people loved him. He enjoyed exploring the world through his work and his personal travels. He was a life-long learner who loved to read, play bridge and solve puzzles. He rejoiced in a full meal, a beer or two or three and anything chocolate. He proudly professed a clear conscience that allowed him to nap wherever and whenever he found a comfortable spot.
