Betty Daze

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Daze nee Hamilton passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022 at the age of 102. She was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Hamilton, and pre-deceased by her beloved husband John (Jack) who died too soon in 1981.

She leaves in sorrow her daughters Lynda Bryan and Jacqueline Mayda, sons-in-law Gerald Bryan and Michael Mayda, grandchildren Stephen, Richard and Jennifer Bryan and Katrina and Hayley Mayda as well as six great-grandsons: Connor, Caelan, Shayne, Kurtis, Aidan and Brenden.

She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1967. She was a very proud Scot and made many trips back to the old country to visit relatives up until 2005 at the age of 85. Betty made friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her positive spirit, quick wit, spunk and strength as well as outstanding sewing and knitting abilities. Her quilts and knitted dolls are proudly displayed in homes around the globe.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cityview Retirement home for caring for her and the nurses and doctors at the Civic Hospital for making her last days comfortable.

Visitation will be held December 9th, 2022 from 1pm to 3pm with a memorial service at 3pm, followed by a reception at McEvoy Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa.

Donations may be given to the charity of your choice in memory of Betty.
