Carol Berry

She came into this world on July 26, 1940 - born into a good French/Irish Catholic family - and thus began her lifelong support of the Liberal Party of Canada. Her fondest memories revolved around her time lived in a small house and hobby farm on the Conroy Road in Ottawa. Her most cherished remembrances always involved family - whether it was playing cards, or sneaking into a bar, or summer vacations at some shack by a lake - family was prominent.

Carol enjoyed her retirement from the workforce, having entered it at an early age. Having spent many years as the credit manager for Rentalex, then as a public servant, and finally seeking donations on behalf of Cerebral Palsy, Carol amassed friends in the workplace, no matter where she went.

She is predeacesed by her parents Victoria Larabie (nee Brennan) and Paul Emile (Amos) Larabie, as well by her many brothers, her infant sister Shirley, and her beloved sister Rita Prud’homme (nee Larabie) (Alex Prud’homme)

She is survived by her coven of daughters Beverly Ann Berry (predeceased by her husband Charlie), Kimberley Aileen Scharfe (nee Berry) and Robin Alana Berry (Christina). Of particular note, her son in law Kevin Scharfe (Kim), who was like a son to her, if not by blood, then by devotion and love. Proud and besotted Nan to Matthew Berry (Meagan), Roger Scharfe, Zach Scharfe (Andrea), and Nicholas Scharfe (Crystal). Great Nan to Connor Scharfe, Mason Berry, Miles Berry and Kane Scharfe. She is also survived by her sisters in marriage - Florence, Linda and Nadine - as well as the many nieces and nephews who are the part of the Amos and Victoria family tree.

Special thanks to Kenneth Larabie, Claire, Sylvie, and Doris - who provided companionship and assistance to Mom when needed.

Services will be held on Friday, July 24th, at the McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa. The visitation will start at noon, with the service commencing at 1 PM, followed by a Reception starting at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please take a moment to buy a lottery ticket, play a round of bingo, or throw a quarter into a one armed bandit, and think of Mom - she would have liked that.
