It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Chafic Felfli, on August 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Devoted husband of Hnaini Abou-Najm. Beloved father of Rima (Brian Hurley), George (Mira Al-Najjar), Douha (Dirk Tempel). Dear brother of Laura (Joseph Kashasha), Samira (Rev. Nicholas Abou-Haidar) and the late Marie (the late George Dahdouh). Cherished grandfather of Brandon, Stephanie, Melanie, Alyssa, Alex, Paul, Andrew and Angela.
Chafic was raised in a close-knit family in Lebanon with loving parents and three sisters who were always very dear to his heart. Chafic was a devoted husband to Hnaini. They supported one another throughout their life and shared a special bond that remained strong to the end. As a father, Chafic lovingly provided his three children the foundation and opportunities they needed to build fulfilling lives. To his eight grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Jiddo.” He was an important presence in their lives, sharing in their childhoods and surrounding them with affection, patience, and kindness.
Teaching was an important part of his life. He had special ways of simplifying math. Former students continued to remember him with respect and appreciation years after graduating, while colleagues knew him for his humour, warmth, and friendship.
Though we grieve his passing, we are grateful for the years we shared with him, the memories he gave us, and the lessons he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 12, at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home & Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon, immediately followed by a Funeral Service in McEvoy-Shields Chapel. Interment will be held at Capital Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive.
