Charlie was such an important person in my life. We went to Kars on the Rideau together and shared so many fun memories. They were always so kind, so caring, and they’d never be afraid to say how much someone meant to them.
I moved provinces before grade 8, but even then we still called and talked together so much. They were genuinely such a fun person to be around. So sweet, so kind, and so funny. I really wish I could’ve been able to spend more time with them. 

I remember this quote from a story Charlie wrote: “people are like grains of sand on a beach. If one grain of sand is missing, you think no one would notice. But when that grain is gone, it moves so many other ones, and they won’t ever be able to go back like they were before.” 

You will be missed Charlie. Deeply. I hope you rest in peace, and that you’re in a better place now.

Charlie was a friend of mine, I remember every single day at school, early morning, they would come to my class to talk to me. We would be laughing and talking about our plans for the day, then every single time, they always hugged me at the end. After I heard about the passing, I spent a few hours on call with a mutual friend, yet the second we hung up, I sat there for hours thinking back. Charlie was always there for me, and I wasn't there enough for Charlie. Love you, miss you. Always. LLC.

Though you don't know me, I am a fellow Canterbury parent. 

Months ago our teenager was having a get-together of friends at our house and Charlie was in that group. They were working on arts and crafts and making a mask. We all had a lovely walk together and Charlie was a joy to be around.

When Charlie was in 8th grade attending Sacred Heart HS we met Charlie on the school bus, Charlie never failed to make us laugh and always had something fun to talk about. She was always interested in learning about our lives and sharing about hers. On spare Charlie would come sit with me when she needed a break to chat and when she told us about wanting to get in to Canterbury we were rooting for her the entire way. When she told us that she got in we were really excited for her because of her love for drama and how much we knew she wanted it. Charlie was always very caring, she would text us when we were absent for a couple days worried and even opened up a little bit about her struggles.    Unfortunately after the school year we didn’t see Charlie again and lost touch but we had hopes that she was doing well at her new school and was finding herself. Charlie will be deeply missed

I knew Charlie as we shared a few rides in the school elevator together. They were always so sweet and always brought a smile to my day. They always knew how to make people feel good. For me, they would compliments the things about myself that I usually kept hidden.  The spaces we shared won’t be the same without them.  My heart goes out to all those affected ❤️

I have a daughter in Grade 11 at Canterbury. We are so deeply sorry for your loss, and moved by your beautiful tribute to Charlie. Even though we didn't know Charlie, their spirit and gentleness comes through in every photo.

I had the privilege of meeting Charlie at school dances, and passing through the halls when I was volunteering for Surf N Ski club at Canterbury. She was always smiling and I especially remember she was waiting for an order through uber eats.  She beamed, as she explained she had ordered something delicious and couldn’t wait to share it with her friends.  Although I only had the absolute pleasure of meeting her a few times, I feel blessed to always remember that smile and the positive energy she had. My deepest condolences by everyone impacted by this tremendous loss of a beautiful soul.

I had the pleasure of being Charlie’s first teacher at CHS.  Everyone in our homeroom loved Charlie’s kindness, spirit, energy, creativity and compassion.  Charlie touched every single person she met.  I will never forget her beautiful soul and how she shared her experiences so openly and with dignity and confidence. In spite of her challenges she persevered and did so, with zest and passion.  Charlie embodies what Canterbury is about, empathy for others, artistic talent, open mindedness and a deep sense of justice.  I will never forget Charlie and her incredible spirit.  Her essence will live on in me and everyone who was touched by her compassion and care.  Rest well beautiful soul, you will always have a home in our hearts.

As a fellow a Canterbury parent, my heart goes out to your family. My son is also in the Canterbury drama program, in a different year than Charlie, and has fond memories of his interactions with her. Our very deepest condolences. Your family is in our prayers.

I remember in 7th grade, when Charlie was there for me when no one else was. Charlie let me hang out with them, and always made me feel included. Charlie was always there for me, and I will never forget the way they made me feel. Charlie was a kind, caring, creative, understanding and beautiful soul. Charlie has left a mark on everyone's hearts and will always be with us. I have a memory from 7th grade when Charlie was trying to fit in after being bullied—especially for the way they dressed, and one of our friends tried giving them a tip on how to fit in more. But Charlie didn't listen and I'm glad she didn't. Charlie is like a bird wanting to spread their wings, when the whole world told them they should stay caged. Charlie continued to wear their fun, darin, spunky, unique outfits, and chose to be a free bird, in a world full of birds trying to look the same. They took you so soon sweet angel, but you will always hold a place in our hearts 🤍

There are no words for what you are going through.  We are sending you and your family our deepest condolences, peaceful thoughts and all of the light in this time of sadness.  Our daughter goes to school at Canterbury and even though she didn’t  know Charlie, she has been deeply touched and moved by her story.  We are all mourning her.  Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute in her honour, we got a real sense of the very special and beautiful person Charlie was. So sorry about Charlie's  passing... praying for you all in this difficult time. I knew Charlie from Canterbury High School.

I am a stranger to you and your family. My child attends the same school but in different grades. 

Although I didn’t know Charlie personally, I am deeply moved by the beautiful tribute to her. It’s clear she was deeply loved by her family, her friends, and her community. She sounded like a kind, creative, and compassionate soul with so much to offer the world.

My heart aches knowing she carried such heavy struggles. Mental health can be an invisible burden often carried through warm smiles and generous hearts. Please know that even those of us who didn’t know her or your family,  are carrying you all in our hearts. Wishing you strength and comfort on the profound loss of your beautiful child. Charlie’s light will live on in all who loved her.

Charlie was always a shining light whenever they were at group nights.  Crazy, fun, full of life.  Got along with all the kids, younger and older.  They will be missed terribly by all of us at NGRYA.  So blessed to have known them.

Through Jen, I was able to know and hear stories about Charlie. I learned the artistic and creative side of them, but also the silly and goofy side as well. There were many  interests and hobbies that we had in common. From then on, I was able to foster a relationship with Charlie sharing our interests and grew so fond of the person Charlie was becoming.  It amazed me how far Charlie had came despite the challenges and struggles that came their way. Furthermore I am amazed to see the abundant support Charlie had and the wonderful mother Jen is to offer a safe and open space for Charlie. I am heartbroken I won’t be able to see Charlie continue to flourish, but in the time I got to know them, they truly blossomed.

I am so very sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. They always filled the halls of Kars on the Rideau PS with energy and laughter. I cannot imagine what you, as a family, are going through. Memories of Charlie will be cherished by all the teachers and friends who had the pleasure of spending time with them. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

My sweet Charlie... we are all devastated that you chose to leave us all at such a young age.  The memory of your vivacious and charming spirit bouys us up in our sorrow.  We helplessly watched your struggles with emotions and thoughts no young person should have to deal with and we struggle to understand the depth of your despair and your final choices. 

Gone are the sweet smiles, warm hugs and excited exclamations of joy when you greeted us.  Gone is a young spirit with enormous potential.  My heart breaks.💔

Charlie was indeed a bright light from the first moment we met and I was offered a half eaten jaw breaker standing in the arena I knew Charlie was special.  Sending you all love , prayers and big hugs!

We loved time spent each summer with Jen,Kaiden & Charlie🥰 So much fun with all the kids hanging out  late at night in the pool & Hot tub. I will miss her big hugs & couch snuggles. 🤗
