I miss you so much wry much Dan. You were the light of my life.

I miss my son in law immensely, this wonderful man whom I first met when my daughter, his wife, lived on Prince of Wales drive, was nothing but a charming, knowledgeable and kind man.  Their friendship blossomed and they became man and wife.  Two wonderful children and 2 beautiful furbabies later, I thought nothing could destroy this fantastic family unit.  Of course this fine man will always be there in spirit and in the hearts of all, but he will be surely missed.

We were so saddened and shocked to hear the news of Dan's passing.  It is so hard to believe that, just like that, he is gone - a life taken too soon.  Dan's quick witted humour and sarcasm, his story telling abilities, and his donations of time and talent in the community will always be remembered.  Despite a quiet exterior, Dan had a strong and vibrant personality, and of course, a big heart.  We will miss him so much and offer our sincerest condolences to all of you.

It is with heavy heart that I finally make this post today.  To Maria, Ben and Emma,  Aunt Shirley, Wendy, Mike, Josie and Jenn and the family, there is nothing I can say to help today,  except to let you know that my heart, thoughts and prayers are with each of you, today and in the days ahead.
"Our" family is very special,   you took us into your wonderful group of people so many years ago,  we have laughed and had wonderful times together.  Danny was  most often the light of the room,  the one with a fun story to tell, or a sarcastic comment to make.  He will always be fondly remembered as a wonderful family man with kindness and great treats to share for all to enjoy.  My faith has taught me that we will meet again someday. I sincerely hope that to be true,  because knowing Dan has been a wonderful honour.   Rest in Peace Danny

I am so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. Dan and my younger brother were childhood friends and although I had not seen him in many years I have very fond memories of his family, Josie, Jennifer, Wendy and  Michel and of Dan and my brother  playing together in our Windsor Park community.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of  his family. 

Our family is holding you all in our thoughts. Your community is grieving with you, and will never forget Dan and his many talents.

Maria, Ben and Emma - we are so so very sorry for your loss. Dan leaves such a hole in our community. He was just a fixture at every single Bayview and Fielding event. I will miss sharing field trip duties with him, and will always remember his care in selecting the absolutely perfect gift for Miranda's birthday (a treasured set of watercolour pencils), and how happy he was that she loved them. 'Dad' was just the role he was meant to play. I hope you find some comfort in the lives he touched around him, and the true sense of community he personified. Ben and my son Connor have played hockey together over the years, and my husband has coached Ben.   Dan never seemed to miss a game and it was clear to everyone how proud he was of his children.  Our thoughts are with you all.

I am thankful to have known him. He was a truly generous person. The extra chair in his office was one of the building's most popular spots.

        Your husband/father was an amazing person. I had the pleasure of knowing Dan through work at NRC and appreciated his professionalism, humour and dedication. He spoke a lot of his family (oh the ringette practices and games! :) and his kind heart shone through always.

He will be missed by many, and none more than you. Know that he touched the hearts of everyone around him and we are better for it.

Dan and I were acquainted through Bayview, as a parent volunteer on both the Holly Fair and the year-end BBQ committees, where Dan was also an active volunteer. 

I learned of Dan's passing on Friday, June 16th.  Coincidentally, it was the same day as my kids' end-of-school-year BBQ celebration.  I spent the entirety of the evening telling stories from our time together working on the Holly Fair and BBQ at Bayview.  It seemed a fitting opportunity to talk about how amazing Dan was for his wife, kids, family, and community.  These were obviously very important to him.

I cannot imagine the depth of grief you are feeling at the loss of your husband and father. My heart and thoughts are with you and your family.

I was Dan's roomate during the early 00s; we lived together for almost 3  years. I will remember Dan's quick wit, sharp intellect (we did our physics ugrads together), and most of all  his deep commitment to his friends and family.  My condolences to his family, he was an example for all of us.  I have and will always look fondly on our time together.

The loss of Dan has gutted many of us in the community - and we are grieving along with Maria and Ben and Emma. We have known Dan as ‘that dad’ who always stepped up to volunteer, to collaborate, and to advocate for his kids, and all our kids as well. He was always generous and passionate and kind-hearted.

I spent this year co-chairing school council with Dan and I enjoyed every moment of working with him. He was so cool and creative. And I will forever cherish all the chats we had about our kids.

The world has lost a good one.

Maria, Ben, Emma, and all of Dan's family - thinking of you all and sending my condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Dan on school council over many years at Bayview then Fielding. He was a gentle man whose passion for supporting the kids in the school and community was  infectious. He will be greatly missed. 

Dan will be sorely missed by his close colleagues at NRC. His attention to detail and ability to advocate on behalf of others was well recognized, not only by those at NRC, but also the many international colleagues Dan developed through a number of field measurement campaigns.  His quick wit kept us on our toes, and his incredible dedication to the research we were performing has left an indelible impression. Dan took pride in everything he did, and it showed in the calibre of his work.  Dan’s passing leaves us with heavy hearts, but his memories leave us smiling.

I spent a full summer  as a counsellor in training with Dan at Camp Trillium in the mid 90’s.  Dan was  well liked and respected by everyone. He was easy to talk to and very gentle.  I was sad to hear of his passing. Although many years go by without contact I remember him and often think of him and others from that chapter of my life. My thoughts are with you and your entire family my fiend. RIP.

Dan was fun..and funNY, a great cook, a wicked home-bartender, a gracious host, a dedicated and loving dad, and a committed and devoted husband.  He was also a fabulous friend.

So sad to hear the passing of Dan. Such an incredible kid. I say kid because he was a camper at Camp Trillium and I was a staff member. Dan was a quieter kid to strangers but as he got to know you he was pretty chatty. Lol He had a great wit and always, always would turn to me and say a comment that was so funny. When he stopped attending camp we still occasionally message each other on Facebook and it was always nice to hear from him. Rest in peace Dan. My thoughts are with his family.

I remember coming to Ottawa to visit my daughter and son back when they were living on Prince of Wales Drive.  My daughter introduced me to this young man she was seeing and I immediately liked this man.  To me he seemed perfect for my daughter Maria and I hoped it would work out.  Well it did, they married, had two beautiful children and lived a great life.  This tragedy is not only hard on me, his parents but especially hard on Maria, Ben and Emma.  I am so sorry for this loss, a very good man gone way too soon and I will forever miss him and his sense of humor.

We have known Dan for quite a few years and in all that time, all that we ever experienced was a good man, a good husband and a great father. Plus he was an amazing baker who always made the best Christmas treats.

I have known Dan for many years, we would talk some at The Italia Fest that started at my sister Pat Macoretta's house and then moved to my Niece's house. The last time we talked was at Nona's 100th Birthday Party. He was easy to talk to and would sometimes add a funny twist to what ever we were talking about. He was a Good person with a Kind soul, and we will miss him very much.
