It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daphne Fletcher on April 26, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Glendoss, St. Catherine, Jamaica, Daphne was the beloved daughter of the late William Fletcher and Miriam Thompson.
Daphne was a cherished sister to Jasmin Johnson (deceased), Maureen Watson, Kathleen Fletcher (deceased), and Holness Josephine Watson. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support.
A woman of grace and gentle strength, Daphne lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, service, and creativity. She found joy in knitting, crochet, and singing, and her devotion to her church was a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Daphne was a proud volunteer at The Good Companions Seniors' Centre, a place that brought her great happiness and where she touched many lives with her kind spirit.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, 4E Unit, for their compassionate care. A special thank you goes to Dr. Wilson, Hamda (RN), and Moniak (RN), whose dedication and kindness brought comfort in Daphne’s final days. We are deeply grateful to Valerie and Don for their unwavering presence and love.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, followed by interment at Beechwood Cemetery.
Daphne will be remembered for her deep faith, her gentle soul, and the love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and strength that will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
In Memory of Daphne, donations to The Good Companions Senior Center would be appreciated.
